They were not allowed to lay down arms and had to defend the defenseless. Along with seeking wonders, they were not allowed to hurt anyone and had to refrain from attacking each other. They had to fight for and give their lives for their country. They could not break faith and had to practice religion with heroic effort. They had to be honest about their experience whether it be honorable or disgraceful and they had to be hospitable to everyone by ability. The code of the knights of the Round Table was known as Pentecostal oath and was used to swear in every Knight every year at the time of Pentecost. The roundtable was also known as the order of chivalry in king Arthurs court. After some time, every knight considered among the best and the bravest sought admission to the most noble order of the Round Table. In the novel, King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, the author, Roger Lancelyn Green, makes numerous connections to the teachings of the Catholic church. These connections show the importance of the Catholic faith to the knights of Logres. Some of these examples, including the presence of a Jesus figure, the performing of miracles, and the betrayal of friends, relate to many of our central beliefs as Catholics.
Knights live in inaction and despair: after the failure of the quest, the Round Table has no more reason to exist. The absence of the Grail that symbolizes the Faith leads to degradation and vengeance. “The Grail conveys both the absence or unattainability of God”(Pipolo, Robert Bresson, A

In Medieval Europe, knights were held to a code of honor called chivalry. Some values of this code included humility, loyalty, generosity, and bravery. In the popular legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, all of the knights abided by this code. Nancy Springer’s Novel, I Am Mordred, explores the backstory of the Arthurian villain, Sir Mordred. Many famous knights, such as Sir Lancelot and Sir Gawain, were characters in this version of the story of King Arthur. Through characters like Lancelot, Gawain, and even King Arthur himself, the characteristics of generosity, bravery, and humility are presented.
The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Arthur built a castle for himself and the kingdom, in which he placed this table in the center of the castle by itself. Most tables that leaders sit at are rectangular, in which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the people. However, Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men. He does this because he respects their opinion and wants each of the men, including himself, to have an equal amount
I have always been a huge fan when it comes down to the knights of the round table. However, I have often wonder how exactly did the knights of the round table would fall. In Le Morte d' Arthur, all of the questions I pondered are answered. The knights of the round table has fallen due to adultery caused by Queen Guinevere, Arthur's own wife itself! To make matter worse, Queen Guinevere is having an affair with Lancelot! Not only did this surprise me, but also infuriated me to endless bounds. Why would a knight, who is suppose to show loyalty to the king, do such a crime! I honestly thought the way knights of the round table would end is going to be the day Arthur dies fighting an epic bloody battle, sort of like the Beowulf ending style. However,
In the Medieval Period, knights dedicated their lives to following the code of chivalry. In Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, a number of characters performed chivalrous acts to achieve the status of an ideal knight. Their characteristics of respect for women and courtesy for all, helpfulness to the weak, honor, and skill in battle made the characters King Arthur, King Pellinore, and Sir Gryfflette examples of a what knights strove to be like in Medieval society. Because of the examples ofchivalry, Le Morte d’Arthur showed what a knight desired to be, so he could improve theworld in which he lived.
King Arthur is one of the most famous leaders in our world’s history. No one knows whether or not King Arthur ever existed. Either way, he still was very impactful on our world and continues to influence our world today. Nick Bettis states, “That future generations turned him into legend… That is the real significance of King Arthur. We invented him because we have an inherent need for what he represents. He symbolizes our ideals, which makes the most authentic part of us invested in his legacy.” King Arthur invented the idea of chivalry. Chivalry was a code used by the Knights of the Roundtable that included various qualities that were to be expected in an ideal knight such as wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. All of the knights lived and died by this code. Many different texts written about King
The Round Table was made from Merlin and was for Uther Pendragon then was soon stolen from King Leodegrance of Carmelide and was then passed down to King Arthur after he married Leodegrance's daughter Guinevere in the Arthurian legend. The name “The Round Table” means it has no head, that means everyone who sits there are all equal. The symbolism of the Round Table developed over time and it represent the chivalric order associated with Arthur's court. The literacy fact is that it served to provide the knights of Arthur’s court with a name and a collective personality.

We all know the tales of King Arthur, the king who was gifted the sword Excalibur by the Lady of the Lake and was declared King of all of Britain! Even though strange ladies lying in ponds handing out swords is no basis for a system of government, his tale is still one of the most well known from the medieval era. Countless movies, books, and video games have been made based on his tale. What some people forget however, is the tale is not simply about King Arthur, it is also about his knights of the table round. Each knight may not get as much recognition as King Arthur, but they all had their own tales, and fought to protect his kingdom. This is the way of many stories, however. One name takes the title, though many others do their part to keep the world going. Can you imagine if King Arthur had to save and rule Britain all on his own, or if Frodo had to destroy the one ring without the other members of the fellowship? A lot of great novel series would be shortened to one short story.
Following the downfall of Mediterranean Bronze age civilizations and the dark age of Greece a resurgence of writing, culture, and empire occurred. The poleis of Athens, Sparta, and Thebes rapidly expanded their population and cultural identity to transform from hamlets to powerful city states. With this expansion of identity and wealth of these poleis came a rapid rush of colonization on the surrounding Mediterranean islands and lands beyond. Although the exact causes and logistics of this phenomenon are greatly debated the impact the spread of Greek identity and influence had on the western world and Greece is incredibly significant.
