Line 5- When butterflies will make side-leaps,
Interestingly, in many cultures the butterfly is associated with the soul--- further linking our animal symbolism of faith with the butterfly. In Greek myth, Psyche (which literally translates to mean "soul") is represented in the form of a butterfly. Befittingly, Psyche is forever linked with love as she and Eros (the Greek god of love, also known in Roman myth as Cupid) shared an endlessly passionate bond together - both hopelessly in love with the other.
Butterfly is the symbol of change, creativity, freedom, joy and color. Their power is transformation, shape shifting and soul evolution. They represent the element of air, quickly changing and always on the move gracefully. Butterflies are messengers of the moment and come in a wide array of colors, a Powerful transformation, and metamorphosis in a life phase.
Line 6- As though escaped from Nature's hand
Nature’s hand refers to the strength, warmth, and tenderness of the female goddess (or a mother) who has the power to bestow and add beauty on to her creations as she desires. Nature is therefore seen as some divine force that controls the appearance of her creations, and clearly.

The cloud is a commonly seen design and when repeated in a pattern symbolizes never-ending fortune. Clouds represent divinity, pure thought and pure being, emptiness and everything. Clouds are creations of polar opposites existing as one in such a freedom of being they never become fixed in form, just like the flow of water clouds tell us to be free from everything yet as pure as
The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During the holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die. They carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. Just like how a larva turns out into a butterfly an flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die, they would completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace and freedom. A butterfly is so awakening and charming which
Because flowers go in cycles of life and death, we can look to them as archetypes. The cycle is really closely related to the circle which is a very prominent archetype in the world today and the past. The other thing I think of when I hear the word flowers is gardens. When I looked for the garden archetype I found that gardens symbolize love and fertility (YourDictionary 2). Flowers and gardens also have many symbols associated with them depending on who you ask.
The symbolized inferior butterfly has been killed by a more superior human. Killing a butterfly doesn’t usually come to people as a huge occurrence but this really is a small event turned major because it alters the future timeline. The theme of this story is a metaphor on society because in the post-world war era this was an important message, one action from a high ranking official, or even a small person doing a dangerous deed could most definitely cause panic and have far greater impact on society, just as the two World Wars did.
In some cases butterflies represent beauty, freedom, and imagery. In the Time of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez, The Mirabal sisters represent honor and freedom by the way they react in the book. An example of Minerva Mirabal exemplifying freedom is when she says, “I stare at Manuel de Moya as if pinning him to the wall. ‘I’d sooner jump out that window than be forced to do something against my honor’” (111). This quote explains how Minerva will stick for her true roots, and will not ever do anything to dishonor her family. Minerva and the rest of the Mirabal sisters do what they think is right and will do whatever it takes to stay true to what they believe in. Another example of the Mirabal sisters representing a butterfly is when
“If you don’t study your history, you are going to repeat it” (312). Dedé states this in In the Time of the Butterflies after being questioned why she shares her story. The historical fiction novel by Julia Alvarez, takes place in the 1940’s, under the dictatorship of Trujillo, and in 1994 when Dedé recites her family’s historic and engrossing life. The Mirabal sisters up rise against the government, hoping to gain freedom for the Dominican Republic. Alvarez’s In the Time of the Butterflies exemplifies the attributes Vladimir Nabakov would consider necessary for great literature as specified in his essay, “Good Readers and Good Writers.” Alvarez’s masterpiece focuses on a rebellious young woman who challenges the dictatorial Trujillo
Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from “returning to their roots,”(58) to “deserting the open space.”(151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group’s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what’s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace amounts of good in them. recognizing the
Sue Monk Kidd’s novel “The Secret Life of Bees” sympathized the reader with the use of plot actions, symbolism, metaphors and dialogue that exhibited the only reason behind Deborah’s and Ray’s actions was love and self-protection. The symbolism behind the whale pin and its usage to sympathize Ray’s actions, Deborah’s depression story and repercussion, and Deborah’s reasons to marry Terrence have a compassionate effect on Deborah’s death and Terrence’s suffering.
One often dreams of making an impact on the world; however these dreams, more often than not, remain adventurous thoughts. For the Mirabal sisters, of the Dominican Republic, dreams quickly became a reality. Minerva, María Teresa, and Patria Mirabal helped to free the Dominican Republic of their oppressive leader, Rafael Trujillo. In Julia Alvarez’s novel, In the Time of the Butterflies, the inspiring and heroic story of the Mirabal sisters is told through the perspectives of the sisters. Alvarez creatively fictionalizes the early lives of the sisters and solemnly illustrates the sisters’ final days. Following the release of Julia Alvarez’s novel, many critics expressed both positive and negative reviews. Some suggested the Mirabal sisters were inaccurately portrayed; however, other critics cite strengths in the novel, and one critic reclassifies the novel’s genre.
After taking bold political action, a young man sets off on a boat to America in order to escape from the oppressive Haitian government. Soon after setting sail and leaving his lover back in Haiti, the lover receives a message from a butterfly. The superstition goes that “The bright ones bring happy news and the back ones warn us of death.”(5). In this instance the butterfly is black and warned the young man's lover of his death. The lover didn’t want anything to do with the butterfly, and “[she] began to run and run so it wouldn't land on [her], but it had already carried it’s news.”(24) The butterfly represents the death of the young man who needs to escape his oppressive society in order to reach a better life in America. If the young mad had not attempted to leave, he would have been thrown in prison and tortured by the government, so he didn’t have much of a
Discovering one’s identity has invariably been a struggle for mankind. From obstacles testing moral values to uncertainty regarding a role in life, the road to finding one’s character is not always successful. However, throughout life, different factors can have ranging impacts on the guidance of one’s identity and the shaping of who they are as a person. Whether it is family or a major life event that changes their outlook, the struggle to find one’s character can be addressed through numerous components. This idea is especially ubiquitous in the novel, In the Time of the Butterflies; the Mirabal sisters begin to discover themselves over the course of the story in a variety of ways. In her novel, In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez utilizes myriad literary techniques to establish the prevalent theme of finding one’s identity through growth, faith, and freedom.
The storm cloud represents guilt. I selected the storm cloud because feeling guilty is like having a rain cloud constantly raining on you. Mia’s guilt over thinking that she killed Mango was like rain pouring down on her, not letting her forget about it. Thinking she was guilty made Mia feel like she didn’t deserve to have something special, but after she was

When I was reading Ona cloud rider I noticed that in one of the scenes they were good clouds and they were bad clouds, both sides different. So I went researching if they were different kinds of clouds. Yes they were different clouds, you can call them rain clouds or you can be more specific and call them high low or medium clouds. The groups are based on the height of the clouds kind of like some MLG tournaments how they referred some of their teams as A, D depending on what position they are in. My 2nd reason why this is real is look at some photographs at clouds, you can see tons of pictures about clouds and they are also some rarities of clouds like uncommon or rare clouds, an example
For my album review, I chose To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. It was released in 2015 as the follow up to his critically acclaimed debut studio album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. The album exhibits a more socially conscious style of rap than many other contemporary rappers. The album deals with many heavy subject matters such as institutionalized racism, police brutality, colorism, and commercialism.
It not surprise to find out that they use animal as a large symbol in their art. Each animal has its own unique meaning in each object. Tiger and dragon symbolize courage and cooperation, he was a “celestial companion, with dragon ruling heavens and tigers presiding over the earth.” Phoenix represents virtue, excellence and grace. It was a symbol of peaceful and prosperous time. Lion and Peony represents protectors. Crane, turtles, and the three friends of winter represent long life. Carp represent perseverance, due to the fish’s tendency to swim upstream and never stop moving. Dragonfly represents victory due to its effectiveness as a predator. Butterfly represents wealth, nobility, love, and beauty. Rabbit represents listening, bringing luck, and a blessing of fertility. One example, Woman’s Kimono with butterflies. Butterfly was use in the art to magnify beauty, wealth, and nobility. The color of the kimono was purple. Purple had been considered the noblest of the color in japan. Additionally, producing such quality details and colors were very expensive. Japan architecture were very different than china. The architecture from japan teahouse were made from bamboo and
