Symbols Used In Ground Zero Cross

Among one of the most famous symbols used in Ground Zero is the Ground Zero Cross. It represents the spiritual and physical healing this country desperately needed. After the attacks on 9-11, Fr. Brian Jordan OFM, a Roman Catholic Franciscan priest, said it was a “symbol of hope... [a] symbol of faith... [a] symbol of healing.” Symbols are very important and influential to everyone. Symbols holds a hidden meaning that, in most cases, are more influential than telling it blunt. Yes, sometimes telling it bluntly works but putting it as a symbol shows a deeper meaning and relevance to what you, your community, or your nation stands for. This symbol, the Ground Zero Cross, reveals that our country believes in freedom for all. The previous name for one of the monuments honoring 9-11 was “Freedom Tower” before it was changed to “One World Trade Center”. Another trait is that even when hit in difficult times, the people in a nation can join forces and bring their country back to its feet. Volunteers, firefighters, policemen and dogs all worked together to help clear the rubble from the twin towers and help save lives. This memorial is a tribute to 9-11 by showing the younger generations, who weren't around or too young to remember, all about the terrorist attacks on 9-11. By displaying things found in the rubble at the Ground Zero Museum it shows a walk-through of what happened on that day.
