○ Accounts for 90-95% of cases of diabetes
○ Less common types of diabetes include: diabetes mellitus type 1, gestational diabetes, diabetes due to genetic defects, drug-induced diabetes, endocrinopathy based diabetes, exocrine pancreas based diabetes
