When the child reaches the high school level, sports take center stage. The pressure for them to perform in sports and perform well is immense. There is the pressure from coaches, teammates, and others to succeed. The futures of the athletes are at stake. They play for the chance of scholarships and to continue their childhood dreams. Growing up I participated in organized sports such as soccer and wrestling. Participating in sports allowed me to acquire important traits responsibility, respect, courage, discipline, being a team player, and the willingness to help others. During my senior year in high school I was voted team captain of my wrestling team. My teammates voted me as a team captain because I was always willing to go out of my way to help others.

They ask this question because of the quality of the fields, coaches, money, etc. Hopkins County needs a new sports complex for our youth. We need a new complex because it will keep more kids off the streets and interested in sports, if there is a new and better complex more scouts will visit and better opportunities will take place, lastly it will make more kids want to be involved.
Boys and young men are often being urged to be manly. Advertisement always makes men look strong and handsome, as opposed to lanky and unattractive. Our society affects men in a way that women wouldn’t understand. Women think that men have it easy all the time but do they really? They face issues just like women do. A central issue facing boys and young men is that they are forced into being sporty, dull-witted, and physically appealing.
