In March of 2011, Syrian citizens peacefully protest about the arrest and torture of group of teenagers who had written anti-government graffiti on a wall. Instead of President Bashar al-Assad listening to the people, he responded with violence. This led up to the uprising of rebels, and the Syrian Civil War. Though what is truly fueling the violence in Syria?

Syrians have many problems back home and one of them is their government. Syria, like many other middle eastern countries is a country of strong culture, history, and beauty. Unfortunately the corruption within their government has left innocent people no other choice but to flee due to the complete lack of regard for human life. Innocent people of Syria are forced out of their country due to attacks from every imaginable angle. The Syrian Government, ISIS, and the Syrian Democratic Forces are mainly responsible for these attacks; therefore, the citizens of Syria are left with no other option but to leave in hopes of achieving a safer life. For once was a land of cherished history is now a war zone due to these circumstances. Canada has welcomed innocent citizens of Syria into our country and I believe it is the right thing to do. Innocent Syrians are being killed due to a senseless war, women and children are being forced into sex slavery, even worse women are being raped in front of their own families.

The war in Syria has brought pain and destruction to the people and cities affected. Upwards of 500,000 people have lost their lives and the country itself has crumbled as result of the irreconcilable differences between the protestors and government. The conflict in Syria is the deadliest struggle that the 21st century has experienced so far. This research explains what sparked the war, how it has affected Syria, and what is being done to end the battle.

Over 200,000 innocent civilians have been killed in the 4 year long Syrian civil war, including children and infants. If Americans were to help Syria more than they do now, statistics show there would be a definite decrease in the mortality rate. There are many more benefits that come up from helping them than hurting them. Children would be safe if they were brought to America, because it has gotten so bad in Syria that schools are being converted into shelters and safe houses; therefore, children aren’t getting any education at all.
