Broad City is by far one of the most hilarious shows currently on TV. This Comedy Central show follows the hijinks of Abbi and Ilana, two twenty-something girls living in NYC, and the results are too good to miss. Whether you've just discovered this comedy gem or you're an avid fan, here are ten facts about the show you never knew.

Number Ten: Broad City Was Originally A Web Series

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer actually started the TV show as a web series several years ago. You can still catch some of the original wepisodes on YouTube which feature a few familiar plot lines they reused for the TV show.

Number Nine: Abbi And Ilana Are The Actor's Real Names

Abbi and Ilana are still writers, but now they have several other people working to make the show as funny and creative as possible.

Number Seven: Some Of The Best Scenes Are Improv

Although the writers work hard to make the script for each episode as great as possible, there are still some pretty hilarious improv scenes that are added in by various actors and guest stars.

One of my personal favorites is in the "Wisdom Teeth" episode where Abbi really does fall down accidentally while pretending to be drugged up post-wisdom teeth removal. Hannibal Buress and Ilana's reaction is totally authentic and not written into the script.

Number Six: The Season 3 Finale Will Be Aired At The TriBeCa Film Festival

On April 17, you can actually catch up with Abbi and Ilana and screen the season 3 finale of Broad City at the TriBeCa Film Festival in NYC. Tickets are only $20, if you can snag one before they sell out, and there will be a talk with both Abbi and Ilana after the screening.

After holding onto the show for over a year, they ended up releasing it. Thankfully, Comedy Central scooped it and we were blessed with this hilarious and relatable TV show about our two favorite ladies.

Number Three: Abbi And Ilana Are Much Older IRL

Abbi and Ilana are much older in real life than they are in the show. Ilana is 28 and Abbi is 32. The characters the pair created for the show are apparently based on the younger versions of themselves when they met at ages 22 and 19.

Number Two: Guest Star Alia Shawkat's Episode Was Based On A Semi-Real Life Experience

Who doesn't love the episode where Ilana pretty much falls in love with herself by hooking up with doppelgänger, Alia Shawkat? I know I do. But what's hilarious about this episode is that when Abbi first met Ilana IRL, she actually mistook her for the Arrested Development star. Perhaps that's where the creators got the idea for this episode. Good thing Shawkat was down to guest star.
