I improved application of professional knowledge during my preceptorship. I always remembered that the focus of my professional practice are my clients and their needs. I planned care with the patient and used best practices to recommend plan of care. I discussed the comfort and pain management with the client and recommended to adjust daily routine ,transfer and pain medication to minimize the patients discomfort. I used knowledge base to rule out possible causes of tachycardia such as drug interaction, anemia, unexpected blood flow changes, possible blood loss?. I assessed the patients for signs of weakness, dizziness and peripheral edema .I also measured the patients VS,Resp,LOC,Spo2.. I checked the patient’s history for cardiac issues,
The cardiology ward is an area were patients are experiencing heart and circulatory issues; it is a mixed sex bedded unit for patients diagnosed with acute and chronic cardiac conditions; the team liaise with the cardiac rehab
Dr. Richard Pacca MD, F.A.C.C. provides patients with noninvasive cardiology services at Granville Heart & Vascular, which is a branch of Granville Medical Center. I spent half of my time shadowing Dr. Pacca in the hospital and the other half in clinic. Shadowing Dr. Pacca taught me a great deal about diagnostic and preventative medicine. Many of his patients have chronic conditions. Dr. Pacca explained to me the importance of diagnosing problems quickly and accurately. During the end of my time with Dr. Pacca, I began to see patients that I had seen at the beginning of my shadowing. It gave me a sense of familiarity, which helped me to better understand the doctor-patient
An dysrhythmia of the heart is an irregular heartbeat rhythm. Ventricular tachycardia is an dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast.
Parker included collecting cues in 12-lead ECG, blood pressure, potassium level, sodium level, the warmth of hands and feet and pain score (Corrales-Medina et al., 2012). Also, the process involved identifying the risk factors associated with the patient's condition. From the immediate assessment, it included weight, smoking history, history of depression and family history of cardiac conditions (Corrales-Medina et al., 2012). One evening, Mr. Parker slumped on the bed; I monitored the continuous cardiac monitor to determine his heart rhythm. Based on current information, the T wave on the ECG indicated that the ventricles are repolarising (Levett-Jones et al., 2010).
Implement measures to improve cardiac output: perform actions to reduce cardiac workload: place client in a semi- to high Fowler's position, instruct client to avoid activities that create a Valsalva response, implement measures to promote emotional and physical rest, implement measures to improve respiratory status, discourage smoking, provide small meals rather than large ones,
I chose this team and this topic because I am a nurse who recently started working in a CCU. We take care of cardiac patients, and we have to closely monitor their heart rhythms. So, I would like to learn to better identify dysrhythmias, to improve competency assessments, and to better implement current evidence-based practices.
There was a lot of reasons World War 1 commenced imperialism, assassination, nationalism, alliances, and militarism are a few of WW1’s causes. On June 28th, 1914 archduke of Austria-Hungary and his wife were on their way home from an event when their driver took a wrong turn and Blackhand member Gavrilo Princip just happened to be in the alleyway where they stopped to turn around. Gavrilo Princip quickly pulled out his gun and shot both Archduke and his wife. This Assassination caused Serbia and Austria-Hungary to declare war which lead to WW1. Militarism is the belief or desire of a government of people that I country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests. Militarism denoted a rise in military expenditure, an increase in military and naval forces, more influence of the military men upon the policies of the civilian government, and a preference for force as a solution to problems. This caused the war because it built up nations armies and when you have a huge army that's good you use it. Imperialism is a policy of extending another country‘s power and influence through colonization, and use of military force to create empires they exploited weaker countries. This policy of one nation dominating other countries or regions caused the war because countries wanted to be huge empires like Great Britain. There were many causes of World War 1 but the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
You are working in the internal medicine clinic of a large teaching hospital. Today your first patient is 70-year-old J.M, a man who has been coming to the clinic for several years for management of CAD and HTN. A cardiac catheterization done a year ago showed 50% stenosis of the circumflex coronary artery. He has had episodes of dizziness for the past 6 months and orthostatic hypotension, shoulder discomfort, and decreased exercise tolerance for the past 2 months. On his last clinic visit 3 weeks ago, a CXR showed cardiomegaly and a 12-lead ECG showed sinus tachycardia with left bundle branch block. You review his morning blood work and initial assessment.
Pulling off the ramp, we turned onto Church Hill Road responding on a priority one for the cardiac arrest. I tried to review my field guide en-route to the call, but all I could see were flashing lights reflecting off the guide’s pages and crowds of cars moving over for our wailing sirens. Within three minutes we had arrived on-scene and it was clear that our patient was not in cardiac arrest; however, his 12-Lead EKG and oxygen saturation were marginally reassuring and pointed to an active heart attack. At this point in my EMS training I was a BLS provider, but had adequate knowledge to assist Kathy. Instinctively, I went right to work and loved every second of it. The concept of formulating a differential diagnosis in the field and testing that theory is one of the principle factors that kept drawing my back to EMS. In addition, I developed an unparalleled appetite for knowledge, stemming from my desire to get every differential diagnoses right. Coming to this realization early in my EMS career, we [healthcare providers] frequently forget that patients often lack the medical knowledge provided to us through years of training. Behind CT Scans and MRIs are patients with questions. Having the ability to provide compassion, sympathy and reassurance to a patient is a central part to their recovery and survival; therefore, we [healthcare providers] need to be able to care for our patients on a holistic level, focusing less on the disease and more on the
This past year has been really hard for me, especially how I feel physically and emotionally. In May, I started getting really sick, I was laying down a lot, I felt very weak, and loud noises or anything stressful upset me. My heart was having problems. I first started noticing this at the end of May. I went to the doctor, and they told me that I had anxiety, but I really don’t feel anxious at all. When seeing papers, and records that nurses and doctors had recorded about me, it stated that what I had was called Sinus Tachycardia. What this means is that my heart goes fast, and never goes slow. This has been really hard for me, and i’ve gotten so use to the fact, that my heart goes fast, that if it were to go slow, that would feel weird to
The heart is one of the most important organs in an organism’s body, no matter if they are aquatic, amphibian, or a mammal. This super organ works automatically, able to pump massive amounts of oxygen rich blood through the body by means of electrical impulses and the opening and closing of valves within its many layers. It is what keeps us and every other creature on this earth alive; so it is only natural for one to fear when there might be a problem with one’s heart. A cardiac arrhythmia can happen to anyone, no matter the age, race, or gender, and as such, doctors and scientist have spent years trying to better understand the heart and the way it functions so that they can try to prevent these problems and save millions of lives.
Post hospital stay and admission of the cardiac patient post cardiac event will be provided education on cardiac rehabilitation programs. The length of cardiac rehabilitation programs differ according to the cardiac patient’s condition, cardiac health needs the patient requires and the cardiac event the patient has encountered. Cardiac rehabilitation programs are provided in an outpatient clinic or may also be implemented in the cardiac patients home. Cardiac rehabilitation in a patient’s home is inclusive of, telephone support, online Heart Education Assessment and Rehabilitation Toolkit (HEART), and home visits from services in the community, (Recommended Framework for Cardiac Rehabilitation, 2004). Cardiac rehabilitation programs require expertise from a range of professionals from the multidisciplinary team including, a cardiologist, a cardiac rehabilitation nurse, physician, dietician,
The reality, neither adopts a way of intrigue and nor urge for its approval. It is itself a great power.
After the trump started his presidency, hate crime seemed to have increased massively. According to political scientists, Islamophobia is increasing the threat of terrorism. Some Americas have this fear that Muslims are going to ‘Islamize’ America which is--Islam is somehow trying to take over America or the world. But the possibility for a takeover is low as Muslim Americans are barely 1% of the total population in America. Islamophobia isn't just wrong in the sense that it's unethical for Americans but also, wrong in the sense that it's fundamentally inaccurate. Islamophobia is making the threat greater it is undermining our national security goals and thus, is dangerous. Islamophobia leads to hate crime against the Muslims in America. And, according to the FBI, hate crime data shows a clear sharp increase in hate crimes targeting Muslims beginning, in particular, around 2010 and maintaining a sustained heightened level. Trump, through media, is handing propaganda directly to the extremists. His hate speeches and his recent Muslim ban is giving the extremists exactly what they want-evidence that the West hates all Muslims. The extremists, who are barely 1% or less of the Muslim population in the world, are trying to recruit from the other 99% of Muslims and asking them to join their war against the West.
Recording an electrocardiogram or ECG, is a procedure which is performed daily all over the United Kingdom by thousands of healthcare workers and in particular nurses (Jacobson, 2000). The way in which this procedure is performed varies from geographical location to location and occasionally even more so, between staff on the same ward (Amos, 2000). This reason stated by Amos (2000), formed the basis of my decision to choose this topic.
