Students spend countless of hours in school listening to their teachers, or professors, and doing work. In some schools, they make their students wear school uniforms. This then raises an argument over should all students wear school uniforms; even if, they attend a public school. Even though students can be equal wearing uniforms, students should not need to wear uniforms. Wearing uniforms take away individualism, clothing is expensive to buy these days, and dress codes are getting ridiculous.
If kids were required to wear uniforms, it would take away their individualism. Today, clothing is a big deal in a teen's life; it makes a statement about a person’s personality. People want to develop their own style to try to fit in with others or mainly try to stand out. By taking away the ability to wear different clothes and making students wear uniforms, takes away an individual’s personality. To take away a students’ right to choose what to wear really affects how one acts versus how they would act if they wore uniforms. Uniforms today cost a lot of money and if a family has more than one child, the price is even higher. With the government going into an economic downfall, some families need to save money for more necessary things. Parents would have to buy uniforms every year or season plus some children grow over time, so parents would have to buy even more. This would add heavily to the overall cost parents would have to spend for their children. With the worry of buying uniforms, parents also have to worry about getting certain clothing that meets a school’s dress
