A higher education will give me many physical benefits such as economic stability, a better quality of life for my family, more career choices, better job security, set a good example for my children at the same time, a college education will also give me many intangible benefits such as boosting my self-confidence, helping me to learn specialized knowledge, thinking critically, bringing me in contact with different people, learning better communication skill and being part of a team. Some of the most incredible advancements the human race have made have been in the past century. We have sent men to the moon, improved communication systems, and made the largest technological advancements since the invention of the wheel. In 1946, the first official computer, named ENIAC, was made. It weighed 100,000 pounds, and all it was used for were various calculations. That was only 69 years ago, but now computers can be found everywhere in developed nations. In less than one decade, we have progressed from a 100,000 pound computer to handheld computers that weigh less a pound and can be used for numerous different tasks. It is crazy to think that the simple luxuries that our generation have become accustom to were not normal for our parents or grandparents. An increase in education is the reason we have been able to progress in such an accelerated way. The value of a college education lies in its ability to allow individuals to grow academically, by expanding their knowledge of various subjects, and socially, by being exposed to many different characters and beliefs. These skills ensure that they will have a better future because they will be advancing faster than those who chose other paths. A four year college education, although not for everyone, can push young adults in the right direction.
College is truely worth the cost I have found yes, it is a necessity in the growing information economy of the US .This is because financial Aid is high and the reward is higher than ever, college graduates recently working full time made 83 percent more than people with only high school diplomas.
Despite the fact that there are other career options that don’t require a degree or face the financial obstacles going to college, it’s no secret that there are major benefits that come with getting a college education. The article, “Why Your College Degree Has More Value Than You Think” by Brazen Life claims that,”Although financial enrichment is one of the main reasons people choose to pursue higher education, there are many other benefits to obtaining that degree. You better yourself through improved self-confidence and enhanced decision-making ability, which also betters the lives of your family members and others around you.” Life points out that attending college is the secure way to be successful, confident, and financially stable.
Everyone has different college experiences, and while mine hasn’t been all that exciting. I have still had a good experience that has shaped my future. When I started as a freshman, I had zero-time management skills. Homework would sit until the night before it was due, sleeping in was more important than class, and late night cram sessions before a test was normal. My decisions were poor and while I passed my classes, I could have done better. Now that I am a senior, it is still clear to me how important decisions are, I have learned a late night out with my friends instead of studying for a test will result in a terrible exam grade that will hurt my class grade and my
“The incidence of poverty is 3.5 times lower for college graduates than for high school graduates” (Trostel 1). This and many other reasons show that people should get college degrees. The many advantages of earning a college degree outweigh the cost or any other argument against it. Because college graduates have more advantages than high school graduates, it is beneficial to get a college degree; therefore, young adults should attend college in order to have a wider variety of career opportunities, new experiences, and a better life financially.
College education will no longer be an issue for students, so I disagree with this statement, “The value of college education cannot be reduced to a simple economic number.” The topic on every college student’s mind is: college tuition. Since the cost of college is so far-fetched, students are leaving college with high amounts of debt. However, some students can’t even afford college. There are many ways that can reduce the simple cost of college education such as which college was attended, applying for scholarships or grants, and their FAFSA. Students who want to go to college should be able to attend college with a simple economic number.
Thomas J. Billiteri, author of “The Value of a College Education” (2009), focuses on higher education where he talks about the expanding demand of four-year college degrees in the United States. He explores the many educational paths students can choose apart from the normal and traditional four-year degree and the income that comes with each path. He views higher

The ever-changing United States job market, is a hostile environment for new college graduates. As student’s can go through four years of schooling, graduate and then are not able to find a job in their desired degree field. And while college can be a daunting task it is worth it in the long haul. This article will argue that a higher education prepares graduates for a socially diverse nation. A higher education also leads to more opportunities including higher job security. College will train students to look at problems differently and analyze them critically to come up with a solution. Students who do make it through the rigorous college curriculum live a better life with better opportunities for their future family. Also another benefit
Another reason college students may work during their time of education, is to fund their idea of the college lifestyle they must have. Donald Asher, a writer and speaker who specializes in higher education said:
When I was young there has always been two career choices I wanted to pursue. The first was becoming a professional soccer player and the second was dealing with computers and learning more about them. Once I began to face reality and realize college was my only real option. I knew what I wanted to become when I was older. Computers had always sparked my imagination when I was younger. When I learned more about them, I realized that the possibilities are endless with computers. The more research I did the more I wanted to get a degree in computer science. Like anyone, getting a good job and making a lot of money is what drives them to do well in their job. However, I believe it is important to love and enjoy something you
“Call it torture, call it university,” -Relient K (College Kids). Relient K, a Christian Rock/Punk/Contemporary Band, explains the typical stereotype of a college student. Relient K explains that college student doesn’t enjoy the typical four years that a student goes through college. Most of them, see to many changes from high school and don’t really want to deal with them. College is more difficult than high school, however they are very similar. The differences between high school and college are evident, and they deserve attentive investigation.
Today in our society earning a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather a necessity. Throughout the lives of every human being, everybody is conditioned to believe that one needs a higher education level to have a successful life. There is a saying that says “if you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” While there are people who are just as successful as someone with a master's degree who have no college experience; there are views from both sides that have a valid point. Although, most people whoo choose to go to school and get a college education have a better chance of succeeding in life: which helps with easier job access, better employment opportunities, and allows for advancement, than those who do not further their education.
