Taking a Look at the Cold War

The Cold War was an over 40 year war between the former World War II alliances The United States and The Soviet Union. This was a war that begun by political disagreements, harsh anti-communist words from Winston Churchill, and a power imbalance between The Soviet Union and The United States. Though it was a war, a new, lethal weapon was used to emotionally harm the opposing country rather than causing physical damage.

The Cold War was a conflict for world dominance between the US and USSR which lasted from 1947 to 1991. It was a power struggle after WW2 which both sides tried to dominate their ideology to the world. As a capitalist and democratic and liberal nation, US promoted free elections and the free market. USSR as a communist and totalitarian state promoted to provide security of her borders and political dominance of the socialist party. In the Cold War, there were not military confrontation because there was no fighting took place.

The Cold war began after World War two and ended in the early 1990s. The cold war was a series of events that occurred because the United States and Soviet Union fighting for power. Both superpowers fought for who would have the biggest influence on the nations. The United States was democratic while the Soviet Union was communist thus they tried to contain the spread of each other’s beliefs while dragging other countries into the cold war including Europe, Latin America and Asia. The cold war had a big impact on both Asia and Europe.

The Cold War took place during 1947-1991 and was a war fought with words. The war was fought mainly between the United States and the Soviet Union, using Cuba as a pawn in their war plans. During the Cold War the alliance between the United States and the Soviet Union was broken. The Cold War was fought from the mainland of the two powers. There were instances where the United States had missiles located in countries around the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union having their missiles in Cuba, but there was no real acts of war. The Cold War began with the break of the alliance between the Soviet Union and the United States and the methods used were new alliances and nuclear powers leading to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Cold War is a term that describes the series of fights and rivalries that started after World War 2 and they were between the United States and the Soviet Union. There were so many major crises in this period like the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Hungry and the Berlin Wall (“Cold War”). At that time, there was a clash between different ideologies like communism and capitalism and there was also a rapid growth in military technology and nuclear weapons (Trueman).

The Cold War was an ideological war that escalated into a polarized conflict between the USSR and the US. The Cold War emerged following World War II (WWII). During WWII, the USSR and the US engaged in an uneasy alliance with a common aim to keep a common enemy at bay. The objectives of both nations centered on global supremacy and preservation of the threat of aggression from Germany. Any threat of aggression could escalate into a war that could pose a threat to US or USSR global hegemony.

The Cold War was a period of espionage and international rivalry between the U.S. and the USSR. It involved no armed conflicts between the two nations but was just as expensive. The Cold War was caused by tension during WWII and political ideologies which created distrust and pushed the U.S. and the USSR to the edge of conflict. The Cold War affected the legacies of both the U.S. and the USSR.

The Cold War could be described as one of the most 'distant' wars in history because there was no direct military fighting involved, only threats and fights through other countries. Although, many lives and money was lost, it was not as fatal and severe as World War II. In 1947, or right after World War II, the Cold War began due to conflict between the United States and Soviet Union. It ended on December 26, 1991 and the United States endured most of the damage that was a result of the war while Russia became a larger territory through the countries they gained power over. The war took place in the U.S., USSR, Europe, Cuba, Vietnam, Greece, Korea, East Asia and South America and lasted for over forty years. Although both contributed to the war, the United States should be blamed for the increasing tensions of the Cold War because of the NATO, Marshall Plan and Truman Doctrine.

Consisting of 44 years of violence and civil unrest from 1947 to 1991, the Cold War was a huge turning-point in history. The Cold War however was a war of avoidance, not combat. Defence systems were heavily funded as deterrence to actual war, the belief being a risk of mutual annihilation would be too great to be the side to make the first move. However, the Cold War caused a large variety of conflict and civil unrest around the world, such as the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union took place after the World War II until the early 1990s. Both the United States and the Soviet Union were at the Cold War which employed nuclear arms race, space programs development race, weapons developments, counter-intelligence, military alliances, and propaganda. This Cold War made the world fear for the possible World War III. Ally nations for both sides were divided into either the democratic or the communism which were either on the United States side or the Soviet Union’s side. This Cold War was a political and strategic method to gain strategic territories for the military purpose and also for the economic gains.

The cold war was a long war lasting 45 years but was never actually any fighting. The war was between two national super powers the United States and the Soviet Union. The war was one big chicken match seeing who could build the biggest bomb the fastest.
