Personal response: I liked the book, (-- removed HTML --) Specials (-- removed HTML --) , because it continued to tell the story about Tally Youngblood and her adventures in the wild. Some things that happened in the story could happen in real life. The people in these books seem to lack any sort of moral ethics. This was the third book in the (-- removed HTML --) Uglies (-- removed HTML --) series. Plot: The story began were the (-- removed HTML --) Pretties (-- removed HTML --) left off. Tally got accepted to this new special circumstances group, called the Cutters. They made their life “Icy” by cutting their wrists. The group is a bunch of teenagers with bones of steel that repair themselves. They go on these really hard missions to stop the Uglies from spreading the brain cure. The brain cure was an injection given to people who did not want to be a “Bubble Head” anymore. Ordinary Pretties, might live their whole life without meeting a Special. Throughout the series of these books, Tally’s entire personality shifted and changed constantly as she underwent not just plastic surgery, but mental surgery. It was really frustrating knowing Tally had been brainwashed, but she refused to believe it. …show more content…
She was a strong independent girl and around my age.Tally was an Ugly, became a Pretty, and now she is a Special. Shay is Tally’s best friend and leader of the Cutter group, she was also known as “The Boss.” Zane was Tally’s boyfriend that she lost in the (-- removed HTML --) Pretties (-- removed HTML --) book. Zane now is slow and weak because of his brain lesions. David also helped Tally and Zane escape to the Wild. David was Tally’s boyfriend when she was a rebellious
Tally is keeping track of the months and days until she will become a pretty and be able to see her best friend Peris again.
The story is based on her life, how she meets new friends, and about her journey to “The Smoke.” In the book she shows three main traits. She's very caring, she demonstrates this when she tells Shay to be careful on her trip to “The Smoke.” Tally also helps David look for his parents. Another value she shows is a bad example, she exhibits a non-trustworthy person because she tells Dr. Cable all about “The Smoke.” She is also not fair due to her giving up “The Smoke,” that wasn't fair because other people lived there and they deserved to be happy, even though she did it by accident. Those are the main traits that she
“Pretties” is the second book in the “Uglies” series written by Scott Westerfeld. The book starts back off when Tally, the main character, has just had the operation to turn pretty. She has a party to go to and must pick out her costume. She decided to go as a Smokie because she had to look “Bubbly” enough to get into the Crims. The Crims where a clique in New Pretty Town, they were the kids who pulled tricks and pulled stunts. After her and Shay, Shay is her best friend, pick out their costumes they go to the party. At the party Tally saw someone who she thought she recognized. The person she saw was Croy from the Smoke. He gave her instructions to follow. After her encounter she goes back to the party and the leader Zane, accepts her into
enjoyed the plot of the book. I also chose the book because it was the only book that seemed most interesting.
Tally is an exceptional character from the book Uglies who captivates everyone's attention with her bold personality. Dr. Cable manipulated her by making her go to Smoke all alone, which was an action of a risk taker. In addition, she accomplished many actions that took true courage while she was running away from Special Circumstances during the Smoke invasion. Along with these positive qualities, Tally is a determined girl who will get what she wants when she puts her mind to it. From all the characters from the book, Tally certainly stand outs from the rest because of her exemplary ways.
In Uglies by Westerfeld, the main character, Tally goes through changes through out the book, like Tally’s decision on becoming a pretty and her choice of going to the Smoke. Tally Youngblood is the protagonist in the novel Uglies. Throughout the story, Tally Youngblood experiences a lot of changes. As Tally’s character experience these changes, her perspective on turning pretty had changed while meeting Shay helped Tally become more rebellious.
Despite my previous explanation of what I did not like about the book, the list of what I did like is more significant. I will admit that I am not an avid reader. For a book to successfully make me feel heartbroken says a lot. I had never heard of the story of Pat Tillman, so
Tally, the main character in the book “Uglies”, shows many changes in character or thought throughout the book. “Uglies” was written by Scott Westerfeld, a New York Times Bestselling Author. In Uglies, Westerfeld shows the reader how Tally’s character changes when Peris visits her in Uglyville, when Tally finds out David grew up in the Smoke, and when Tally visits David’s parents’ house.
An important thematic statement in the book Uglies is that an individual can experience redemption through individuality. This thematic statement allows the reader to better understand how Tally Youngblood must use her personality to fix the damage she has caused. On page 311, Tally uses her quick and clever thinking to escape. “Just get whatever Dr. Cable wants. And don’t you dare touch one of those hoverboards.” “Don’t worry, I don’t have to,” she said, and snapped the fingers of both hands as loudly as she could. Croy’s hover-board jumped into the air, knocking the Special’s feet out from under him. The man rolled off the roof again, and Tally leaped onto the board.” The preceding quote is relevant to the theme because Tally was forced
I liked the book because it spoke about the wild and how you should push yourself through whatever your facing. I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to read it. Overall, my favorite part of the book was when he was living out in the wild and survive with just him and the dog, my least favorite part was when Big Darrell was stubborn and wouldn’t do anything with his grandson
The protagonists in the book is Jesse, Justin, and Callie. Callie is a theater enthusiast, she doesn’t give up, and a problem solver. Callie has purple hair and she is wearing earrings. She is energetic, hardworking, and brave. Jesse is one of the twins and the boy that Callie likes. He has brown short hair and tall. He is shy, funny, and friendly, outgoing, and down to earth. Justin is in love with theater and
Dr. Seuss, an author and illustrator of 41 known books from the 1900s, once stated, “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.” Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, is sure to make a reader find the magic within reading.
I loved this book so much. There is so much action and is so much better and exciting with so much amazing detail and description. This is one of my favorite books ever. When you read it, you don’t want to put it down and it makes you feel like you are with the characters in the book and you know them so well. I recommend this book to anyone who can read at this level.
Darcy is the main character, Jamie is Darcy’s sister and Hakeem is Darcy’s boyfriend/ ex boyfriend, Tarah is her best friend. Copper is Tarah’s boyfriend and Liselle and Brain are brother and sister. Now you know everybody in the book. Every character in the book plays a very special part in it. They make the plot special and unique in its own way.
The book had a lot of hard times in the middle of the trouble like when the dome first came down the family's that had lost love ones. Page 80. A man had lost his wife from the dome coming down on the middle of the garden and right on her fingers. She could not get help because all the doctors where busy with other people in the time she died because lose of blood. In the beginning of the book junior went and killed Angie out of rage. Page 42. The people in the car wreck in the dome where running from the cops. Page 33. In the middle the people started to turn and kill for the resources to safe there live page 200. The people started to trust the people that they have never know before like the two people that showed up right before the pink stars. Page 333. I like the book because of the faith that they had to have to get through the hard times in dome. When they started to trust big Jim witch was not trusted with the Important thing for the dome. I like when they had to choose sides if they go with the two girls or not in the book. Page 350. I like the fact that they got out of the dome after a lot time of suffering and little resources to use. Page
