As some of you may already know Tammie Elix who works on Monina’s team as a Medicaid/Medicare follow up biller, has been diagnosed with stage 3-4 Nasopharyngeal Cancer (head & neck) and has spread to a nearby lymph node. Her medical team is being aggressive with her treatment and she has spent the few weeks preparing, she had to move out of her apartment and moved into a trailer on her parent’s property. Last week she had 8 of her teeth pulled, a feeding tube placed, getting a pic line put in and will start Chemo & Radiation treatments next week. Tammie has been taking care of herself and young adult children for many years and has been self-sufficient. Due to having to take so much time off and unclear if she will be able to work after her treatments begin she will be in desperate need of help. Her daughter has become her caregiver and her son just got a job to help out a bit. …show more content…
I am hopeful we can help Tammie out by reducing the stress caused by missing so much work and have her life change so drastically. ANYTHING will help her! She would also welcome prayers and words of encouragement. Tammie will be out again this week and hopefully will be able to return next week until her treatments start. If anyone feels like sending her anything you can either give it to me and I will make sure she gets it. If you would like to make a financial donation I will be collecting for her and would like to give her the funds on Monday March
Cancer is a frightening topic, the National Cancer Institute states that “more women in America have died of [cancer] in the last two decades [than in WW1 and WW2 combined]”. It’s no wonder the word alone can bring anguish to many, there is still much we don’t understand about cancer. It wasn’t until recently that we began to noticed a trend of disease in my family. My grandmother Olga Losoya Suarez passed away in August of 2015 to colon cancer at the age of 75. As one can imagine this was devastating as she was the center of the family, always bringing everyone together on the holidays. Soon disaster struck again as my grandmother on my father’s side, Carolina Tovar, passed from pancreatic cancer in June of 2016 at the age of 71. Although most of the family felt a mixture of emotions, one that dominated the rest was concern. My parents, Aunts, and Uncles concerned that cancer was becoming more prominent in our family sought checkups from their doctors. My Aunt Linda informed
This cancer of the lymph nodes starts by destroying the cells apart of the body’s immune system and can be deadly. When Kate first discovered she was sick, she had to undergo severe chemotherapy that has severely damaged her Kidney. She is currently doing dialysis to try and restore her damaged kidney, but only time will tell if she will need partial removal of her kidney or a complete transplant. When she is not in the hospital herself, she’s checking other patients in. Due to health care needs, Kimball currently works weekends as a receptionist at the Tallahassee Memorial Emergency Center.

Every day she deals with the effects of stroke, having lost most muscle control of one side of her body; but it never seems to take away from her and her fun personality; and it’s made me appreciate how I have full control over my body, just try to imagine not being able to run or use one of your hands. In the past 4 years, she has had to go to the hospital for weeks twice due to repercussions from the stroke. It does seem sad that we only see her daily during those periods, and we try and visit her daily, as I love to see a smile on her face.

Win's experiences could be counter-acted by helping Mrs. Win achieve her medical goals or at least relieving some of the chronic pain that she experiences. A large help would be to get her in touch with government services that will help her with her day to day needs so that she has someone to help her around the house or to drive her if she needs for a few hours each week. (Bluecare.org.au, 2016) Mrs. Win may also be interested in meals on wheels to help her with her regular meals and ensuring she is getting enough nutrition. (Australian Meals on Wheels Association, 2016) Mrs. Win might need more understanding about her chronic health conditions, more information should be provided regularly and updated as her health changes. When she had got diagnosed, she was only the second known case. The doctors didn’t really know what to do and when they first seen her they passed her with asthma. They only figured out that she had Clear Cell Sarcoma when she got worse and eventually fainted because she couldn’t breathe, we shouldn’t want that to happen to anybody else. Clear Cell Sarcoma might be rare but it can happen to anybody, they don’t know really what caused her to get the cancer, and they didn’t know what to give her to help her. Carley had went through remission and they said that all the cancer was gone, but it wasn’t it grew back and it got worse. She had went through six rounds of chemo, tracheal surgery, and had 32 days of high intensity radiation to try and cure the cancer (Carley, teamcarley.ca). “Cancer does scare me, but i’m going to be brave, pretend that i’m perfectly confident, and

Hey folks this is a long-overdue update on Michelle. She finished her radiation at the end of April. Five treatments altogether to get rid of that one last stubborn tumor, once and for all. She even graduated with a Certificate from the School of Radiation. That was undergraduate and she's debating getting her Masters in, Glowing in the Dark. Because of the radiation she's still fighting pretty bad fatigue and her digestive system has been all messed up. In fact the only food she can eat has to be white. Which if you think about it, is pretty appropriate with the administration we have right now. Michelle basically hasn't felt good for over nine months and she didn't even have a baby, thank God!! She will have a PET scan at the beginning of
