The environment of a seminar-based college classroom has a lot to do with student’s personal growth and enhancement, and it can encourage or discourage the confidence of a student.
Tannen said, “I open the discussion of reading by asking that what did you find useful in this? What can we use in our own theory building and our own methods? I note what I see as weaknesses in author’s approach but I also consider that writer’s purpose of writing might be different from ours. Finally, I offer my personal anecdotes and praise student’s anecdotes.” In my opinion devising correct strategies is not the only solution to boost confidence in a student but the way in which these strategies are employed matters also.

The article by Michael Binyon and the cartoon by Tom Toles make the claim that President Obama did not deserve to win a Nobel Peace Prize at the beginning of his presidency. Toles and Binyon share similar viewpoint, so they approach the subject in similar ways. Both of the speakers describe President Obama’s lack of accomplishments at the time he received the award. They both appear to pose strong arguments about this subject; however, the article by Michael Binyon seems to be stronger than the cartoon. Even though both provide effective arguments about the topic, “Comment: Absurd Decision on Obama Makes a Mockery of the Nobel Peace Prize” seems to pose the strongest argument because Michael Binyon was able to develop his claim and effectively impact his audience using background information, evoking strong emotions, and comparing President Obama to deserving winners of the past.
The problem with the belief that people are morally responsible, for what they do and act, revolves around humans not actually having free will because their actions are already determined. When people make decisions or perform actions, they usually feel as if they are choosing freely. The decisions people make are the direct results of their desires; past experiences; personality; psychological traits; and needs and wants. Determinism is the view that if an event has happened, given the previous state of the universe and the laws of nature, then it is impossible that it could not have occurred (304). Libertarianism is the belief that the universe is not determined and that humans possess free will. Kane, the supporter of libertarianism, claimed
That on October 02, 2015 I, CPL Lessane, was in the process of arresting the subject, Don Sharp., Don Sharp resisted the arrest, by attempting to shut the front door in Deputies face. Deputies then immediately gain entry inside the residence and attempted to place the subject under arrest. The subject then resisted by running in the living room swinging his arms in an up and down, side to side motion while swinging his arms towards Law Enforcement. Deputies did tased the subject to gain control of the subject. This incident did occur in Hampton County and is a violation of the South Carolina Code of Laws.
I believe that the argument put forth by Daniel Engster is valid, but not sound. There is one potential flaw with P5, and one with the derivation of P4 from P1-3.
I’m pretty sure Craig Spencer felt the exact same way when he ate at a public restaurant, rode the subway, and went bowling in Brooklyn and look where that has gotten him. Troops who are returning from West Africa are being quarantined just like the astronauts of Apollo 11 were quarantined and no one thinks or thought any less of them for doing so. I believe that it is more heroic of them to have taken the necessary precautions to protect even more people than they already have rather than to just puff out their chests and say they’re invincible. In an article called “Ebola-Quarantine Objections are Frivolous,” Law Professor Eugene Kontorovich elaborated on the fact that courts have continuously advocated for quarantines for infectious diseases like tuberculosis and smallpox.
Lewis could support Lasn arguments because Lewis describes A&F as a place that does not seem un-Moonielike. Lasn make a distinction between the feeling of independence and the rules. Lasn mentions, “The atmosphere is quite un-Moonielike. We’re free to roam and recreate. No one seems to be forcing us to do anything we don’t want to do. In fact, we feel privileged to be here. The rules don’t seem oppressive. But make no mistake: There are rules” (378). Lasn emphasized the comfort ability the consumer culture creates for its members. The ambience of the culture he considers a cult is supposedly free and unrestricted. With that feeling, Lasn believes one becomes so welcome that they feel privileged- they belong here. The rules of the cult do not seem

In document 1, George Kennan arguments are that the USRR sees capitalism as an enemy, therefore, it cannot coexist with the rest of the world. He states that the Soviets want to dominate the world. as a result, he proposed a policy of containment where the United States and its allies should find ways to reduce the spread of communism around the world.
Morals are values acquired through socialization and development they are your guide in deciphering right from wrong. Moral responsibility is the individuals guide to right and wrong. We can witness a lack of moral regard in patient who exhibits specific types of cluster b personality disorders. Especially within the antisocial personality disorder. More commonly known as the psychopath or sociopath.
In the article For Argument’s Sake; Why Do We Feel Compelled to Fight About Everything? The author brings to light an important understanding of why we as a society argue about everything and why it is necessary in the persuasion process. The most effective way to get a problem solved is to create an argument debate. (Tannen, Deborah) It is often a natural reaction to become defensive when another person threatens our belief system, Tannen refers to this process as the “knee-jerk nature”. When a person finds their standing being opposed, one will fight back with debate therefore causing and extreme case of representing each side. (Tannen, Deborah)
Prior to the debate I thought that Donald was going to change hs tone and pace for the debate. Instead of representing an aggressive off the wall entrepenuer who lacks the presidential flair, I thought he was going to calm himself down. Expecting him to come out and attempt to be more presidential in nature, I was surprised to see complete congruence. He remained the same trump who attacks and deflects without having logical statements to back up his views. The use of fear and smoke screens is very similar to that of another leader in history...Hitler. He knew what the public wanted to hear and use that to his advantage. Just after the great depression and first World War, the German people had endured immense struggle ranging from massive

Tanenbaum started the debate in 1992, he titled the email thread ‘LINUX is obsolete’. His arguments against Linux were that older operating system’s used monolithic kernels and that modern operating system’s should be using microkernels. Tanenbaum states, “suffice it to say that among the people who actually design operating systems, the debate is essentially over. Microkernels have won,” (O’Reilly Appendix A). Tanenbaum thinks that a monolithic kernel is very archaic and should not be used for modern operating systems. Tanenbaum also criticizes the portability of Linux, he says that a monolithic kernel is harder to code for different architectures compared to a microkernel. Linux was designed to run solely on the Intel x86 architecture, and Tanenbaum saw this as a ‘gross error’.
The informative article by Hu has several similar characteristics from the previous documents. Hu’s article seems to be more of a summary of the previous two articles, she covers the problems of technology and the potential benefits of tech. Similar to Turkle, Hu states that there is concern of the effects of consumption and content in today’s media. Hu also goes over the potential for our children to learn by using technology in similar viewpoints to Rosin’s argument. Hu used plenty of examples to illustrate her point from her own personal experience similar to the former authors. Hu was sure to back up her claims with actual research evidence showing both sides of her argument in equal light to the reader. Hu also pointed out that there just
