Diana Nyad is well known for swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage; her experience can teach others to see the world and themselves in a whole new perspective. Although she accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to successfully swim from Cuba to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her approximately fifty-three hours. The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record for the distance swam without the protection of a shark cage. Even though Nyad went through hard times during her expedition, she never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role in not only how people see the world, but the way they see themselves too.

She has a dog who’s named Lexi, she is a beagle who loves to play. Vanessa is in all honors classes and is excited about transitioning into high school. “I got attacked” A young girl named Bethany Hamilton was attacked by a shark while surfing in Hawaii. She was 13 at the time of the attack and lost her left arm. The tiger shark that attacked her was a huge tiger shark.
Some people would agree with the idea of Melissa Zevada not coming back to coach at SHS, however, I strongly disagree. Zavada has been a mentor to many students, as well as played basketball at Ashford University, Blackhawk East, and IVCC, went into the Navy, coached and played basketball in the Navy league, and graduated from college with her Masters. I have a thousand more reasons she should stay as a coach for basketball but I only have time for a few.

With most tiger sharks, after they attack something, they go back to eat it. Bethany was lucky that she wasn't the sharks next meal. After the terrifying shark attack Bethany Hamilton demonstrated great resilience by overcoming the tragedy to achieve her surfing dream. There are a few words that come to mind when I think of her and her horrific experience.
