TAPEWORMS Tapeworms are flat segmented worms that have a head, neck, and segments called proglottids; the scientific name is Cestoda the flatworm. Animals become infected with these tapeworms from grazing in pastures that have tapeworms in the grass and from drinking water that is contaminated with the tapeworms. When Humans eat the meat from these animals raw or not cooked all of the way they become infected with the tapeworms. Humans can also become infected by drinking contaminated water. Generally the symptoms of being infected with these tapeworms in humans is so mild that they are not recognized and can easily be treated, although in some cases it can become very dangerous. When the Larvae are ingested by a human they turn into adult tapeworms and live in the intestines of humans, this is called an intestinal infection. They can live for up to 30- years in there host …show more content…
Tapeworms that infect beef is called Taenia saginata (beef tapeworm), Taenia solium (pork tapeworm), and Diphyllobothrium latum (fish tapeworm). The pork and beef tapeworms are large and flat, they can grow up to 15 to 30 feet long. When a human ingests pork tapeworms they can become an intermediate host, which means they are able to become the host that can transfer the tapeworms to other humans. This can happen if the infected person does not wash there hands properly and has feces on hands that have the eggs in it or by swallowing the pork tapeworm egg in food or water contaminated with human feces. They can also transfer the eggs to there mouth after contact with an infected person or with contaminated clothing and furniture. The fish tapeworm is the only one that can cause inadequate absorption of nutrients causing anemia due to it absorbing B12 from your system necessary for red blood cells to
But, these small intermediate hosts can be eaten by larger predators such as; trout, perch, and pike. By this happening the sparganum can go to the musculature of the larger predator, which can be fish and mammals. Then the human can catch the diphyllobothariasis disease by eating the infected host fish raw or undercooked. After ingestion of the infected fish, the plerocercoids develop into immature adults and then into mature adult. The adult worms can reach more than 10 meters long. Several of tapeworms regularly detach from the main body of the worm (that’s where they get their name tapeworm from). They then release immature eggs in fresh water to start the cycle all over again. A tapeworm can live up to 20
Ringworms is a contagious fungal infection that occasionally occurs on the surface of people or animals skin. Ringworms can also be called tinea corporis. Children, athletics, and people who change in locker rooms, are the most commonly people that can get affected by this infection. People who has weakened immune system have more problem fighting off ringworms. Pets can also have ringworm infection.
Just last month, a deadly worm was found in not one, but four locations in the U.S. state of Florida. This worm, until recently, was documented in only twenty-one countries, most of which were island nations. Although the New Guinea Flatworm may seem as a highly dangerous predator, it is only about two inches in length and mainly targets snails for its nutrition. These worms are not harmful to humans, but they will feast on any soft creature in the soil. In order to eat snails or any critters with a hard shell, the New Guinea Flatworm latches itself onto the shell’s opening and then spits out its own stomach through the opening in its belly. This allows an acidic goo to dissolve the snail’s flesh and the worm can continue on with its meal by swallowing both its stomach and the snail.
The new guinea flatworm is from the united states of America.this worm is native to the island of New Guinea where it was originally to have been found in. You can find these worms in tropical areas, coastlands ,planted forests, riparian zones shrubs and urban areas as well.it feeds on earthworms ,slugs and arthopods. This worm can harm the snail called The Giant East African Snail. This worm also can mainly eat mollusks and it especially likes to prey on snail. To hunt for it's prey the worm deposits itself to the bottom of a cabbage leave. It also can follow snail mucus trails to find it`s trail. It also has a infectious rate at least 14.1% and this thing usually lives on cabbage leaves. This worm not only affects the whole population of animals or a specific area this worm can affect humans as

Heartworm disease can be fatal to your furry friend if it is left untreated. Foot-long worms are found living in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels. These worms can cause severe damage in organs as well as cause lung disease and heart failure. This disease has been found to affect dogs, cats, ferrets, wolves, coyotes, foxes, and sea lions. Which the information I learned from my research, I will be discussing the history of heartworm, what causes it, the symptoms and clinical signs, how to diagnose it, the treatment need, as well as preventing it.
When the infective larvae on the pasture are eaten by the sheep they develop in the 4th stage larvae and become adults. This stage is called the host stage as they need to live inside a host (the sheep) or the worms will die. They live inside the sheep’s abomasum during which they lay eggs and will spend the rest of their lives and the whole cycle repeats itself
For the farmers of south east QLD (Australia), Barbers Pole worm is the main worm internal parasite infecting their sheep. This is due the amount of rain and the summer heat. Due to the weather and the climate of south east QLD, makes it the perfect environment for the Barbers Pole worm to infect the sheep. The Barbers pole life cycle is as so, once the barbers pole worm has laid its eggs in the stomach of the sheep, (barbers pole worm can lay up to 10,000 eggs per day), the worm eggs move through the digestive track and are mixed in this the fesses, the fesses are pooped out and into the land, the eggs hatch within 4-10 days, they will hatch faster in hot climate and slower in cold. Once the eggs have hatched they begin to feed on the bacteria
There are several types of tapeworms. Most tapeworm infections cause only mild symptoms and are limited to the intestines. One type of tapeworm, called a pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), can cause a more serious infection called cysticercosis. In this type of infection, tapeworm eggs travel to other areas of the body and cause cysts.
The adult darkling beetle lives from one to three months (Mealwormcare.org, 2016). The mealworm has a hard body that is designed to burrow, eat, and store fat (Ipm.iastate.edu, 2016). There are three significant body sections which are the thorax, head, and abdomen (Animals.mom.me, 2016). The head of the mealworm has a mouth antennae and eyes. The eyes are under developed due to its burrowing habits (Wikipedia, 2016). The thorax contains three sections that has two short legs with claws on the end. The mealworm has poor walking abilities but is equipped with claws that allow swift burrowing, (Enchantedlearning.com, 2016).The abdomen has nine segments held together by a spine. The abdomen holds a majority of fat that is stored for the mealworms transformation to an adult (Wikipedia, 2016). The mealworms
far more dangerous, due to the potential that the larva will migrate to the brain,
Four stages of this parasite have been identified the first stage is the penetration phase which is day 1-17 during this stage the larvae moves into the body of the animal and moves to the lungs. The second stage which is the prepatent phase which is day 8-25
Worms are an intestinal parasite that are very common in dogs. The most five common are heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm. One of the main ways dogs contract worms is by ingesting the faeces of an infected animal. Some worm eggs can remain dormant in your dog for years, and be activated in times of stress and pregnancy. Puppies can also contract worms though an infected mothers milk.
First the host must be infected with the larvae or the parasite. To be infected , the host must eat the larvae and it will end up in the intestines, hatch and start to affect the host. To be infected by the roundworm, the host must step in contaminated soil with their barefoot. This type of infection does not spread onto other individuals. Having the infection has nothing to do with genetics or inheriting diseases from parents.
Scalp ringworm (tinea capitis) is a fungal infection of the skin on the scalp. This condition is easily spread from person to person (contagious). Ringworm also can be spread from animals to humans.
