Something else I would recommend for Target is changing their Visibility methods. Visibility is the placement of the most popular products in spots that will catch the customer’s eye. If Target was to place its key items in places that are easy to be spotted this will ultimately increase its visibility. To be more specific placing these products on the front shelf or in aisles that are can be easily seen even with a lot of distraction. This is product placement and this technique can be implemented at all levels not only just in the stores. With their top selling products, they could alter them to their advantage. To be clearer, with their paper towels being a very popular product. When they produce their Target brand they could make the paper towels be more absorbent, stronger paper towels and at the same time offer this product at a higher price but increase the low margins per square inch. The customer is happy because they feel as though they have a better product regardless of its smaller in size. Target could also with detergent being another popular product, make their Target brand stronger than the other brands. This will let them be able to put this product in a smaller container and would still be just a useful as the other products because you’d have to use less of it. With the detergent being more concentrated the customer also has the option to add water to the product to dilute and it will be still on the same standards as other detergent products. I believe that Cross Docking is something else that could be something that is beneficial for Target at their distribution centers. Cross Docking is a practice in logistics of unloading materials from an incoming semi-trailer truck or railroad car and loading these materials directly into outbound trucks, trailers, or rail cars, with little or no storage in between.
