The lyrics can make one happy, confused, or relate to Swift’s situation. This appeal to pathos is used in different ways here. Whenever one sees the scene with Swift holding the cat, it forces them to emote and feel terrible or sad for the cat because it is adorable and by extension for the person holding it. Also, Swift sums up all that has been said about her in one climatic boy crazy video. The video’s setting resembles that of a fairy tale where all is well, but then Swift goes into a fit of anger after her supposed one true love hurts her. Throughout her video, she tries to tell young women that boys are dumb and can break their hearts to the point that they go crazy after a breakup and that is okay as long as they do not go

The reason I included this song is that when I was in elementary school I rode the bus to school and home from school. When I would ride the bus that is when the kids would bully me on the way to school and that was an awful way to start the day with negative thoughts about myself, and then throughout the day the bullying would continue. However, in about second grade after many days of coming home crying because of the mean kids at school and on the bus, my parents got me an mP3 player and loaded a bunch of songs onto it. From that point on I would blast my music for the entire bus ride, one of the songs that helped me to understand that I had not done anything to deserve the people who bullied me bullying me was Mean by Taylor Swift. Another person Taylor shows reference to be Tom Hiddleston with the black crop top t-shirts saying “I Love Taylor Swift” which is significant because Tom and Taylor dated for about three months, but Taylor broke it off because Tom wanted to go public and Taylor knew what

The song is typical of its’ genre because it is a love song like so many others in the R&B genre. There are many rhetorical appeals in the song, such as ethos and pathos. The music video tells us that John Legend was singing that song for his future wife Chrissy Teigen, so that would make John Legend credible. In a lot of videos it is a random person with the artist, but in this particular video John uses his real fiancée and shows that it is not a perfect relationship. This allows him to be credible because he is using his own real life situation and not an unrealistic one. When you think of the emotional appeals in the song(pathos), you’ll see that the entire lyrics are emotional. This is a love song with a lot of emotions throughout the lyrics. “Give your all to me. I'll give my all to you. You're my end and my beginning. Even when I lose I'm winning”, these song lyrics are showing how John feels about Chrissy and their love for each other. You can understand the emotional connection that the two share. The music video helps cement their relationship because the video only includes John and Chrissy. John is showing his love towards Chrissy by singing to her and the audience sees the emotions between
