TDA 2.2 Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people Different agencies involved in safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and their roles: • Local safeguarding children board- they look into the death of children who have been abused or neglected. And how different professionals/agencies have dealt with it. • General practitioner- Can refer to necessary agencies i.e. social services/police and they provide a report for child protection conference. • National society for the prevention of cruelty to children- Referrals are made to the N.S.P.C.C. then they will decide if further investigation is necessary. • Senior police officer-will decide if a criminal investigation is needed. • Social worker- has the…show more content…

Drowsiness, confusion, seizure or fits and rapid breathing rate Mumps Swelling of the parotid glands (side of face) Child feels generally unwell but should have no on-going symptoms. Teenagers/adults may experience painful swelling of testicles. Secondary infection of the membranes of the brain and hearing loss Rubella Fever and distinctive red/pink rash It becomes serious in pregnant women as harms the unborn baby Pertussis (whopping cough) Distinctive hacking cough followed by a sharp intake of breathe sounding like “whoop” Pneumonia, seizures, asthma, dehydration and scarring to lungs because of infection When children or young people are unwell or injured inform the designated first aider, ensure the surrounding environment is safe. Assess signs and symptoms and take appropriate action and inform parent/carers. For e.g. a child is not acting themselves, feels hot to touch. Then remove clothing as necessary, use a cold flannel to cool them down. Make them comfortable and take their temperature. Ensure this is recorded in an incident log. Inform the parent/carer that the child is unwell and to come and collect them if
