Being clear on key points – if you are having a conversation with someone that involves you giving them advice you should always make sure that at the end of the conversation that have understood what you have said to them. The reason for doing this is because it is sometimes easy for people to become distracted from the key point of the discussion. If you are giving information to a child, always ask the child to repeat back to you what you have told them to do so you can ensure the child has understood what you have said. Maintaining a sense of humour – the job that we do within school is obviously very important, however sometimes it helps to see the funny side of some situations as laughter can be a good way to break the ice and is also a great way of relaxing and relieving stress.

When communicating with others you need to adapt to different situations, for example, you will use formal language and behaviour in a meeting. Spoken words is not the only way in which we can communicate, it also happens in the way in which we respond to others, for example, the way in which we respond to emails or phone messages, how we respond to others when they are speaking to us and how we dress. Non spoken forms of communication can be an issue of they are misread by adults and children. Different cultures will use

When working within a school environment you have to have effective communication and also show you have strong communication skills to convey to the other people within the environment that you are approachable. You need to make sure all the individuals feel valued and secure. However you also need to set clear ground rules for effective communication and this will develop a mutually effective relationship. The best forms of communication are as follows:
Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults alike. It is the central key to establishing and maintaining such positive relationships. It means listening, questioning, understanding and responding to match each individual’s stage of development, their age, personal circumstances and their needs. It is important for the communication to be on the same level as the person you are speaking to so that neither person seems to have more power than the other. Good communication is not just about listening and speaking, it is also about watching and feeling. Excellent communication builds trust in relationships with all.

Throughout the years there have been different ways that humans communicate with each other whether it be from talking, body language, or sign language. But how does this communication affect us as human beings? There are many different types of communication such as Interpersonal Communications, Intrapersonal Communications, and Cross-Cultural Communications. Finding out how people communicate with each other is a key factor in our lives and we need to be able to understand how we can communicate better with ourselves and each other especially when it comes to communicating with people with cultures unlike ours.
