One of my plans is to continue my studies and apply for a Teacher Credential program and complete a Master degree in Especial Education. Also, I want to work in a bilingual school where I can support my community and share my knowledge and culture. I want to continue volunteering in different programs for the community. Since the beginning of my middle school education and throughout high school, I played the flute and performed in Symphonic band concerts in varying venues. They deal in the preparation of different programs, which are of high quality. Further, they assure that the material, which is being taught to the students, is in high standard.
I want to study hard and show that even a student hailing from South Central Los Angeles can make it further than anyone ever thought. I wish to return to this community in the future with a full education and help train the youth of the future here to become better persons. Although furthering my education after high school will be incredibly demanding and onerous, I will know by the newfound greatness in the students and children of South Central during my adult years that my struggle was incredibly worth it. I am applying for scholarships so I can complete a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program. Since I am a degree holding graduate, I have less funding available to continue school. Furthermore, I took out federal student loans all throughout my undergraduate to pay for school, and I am now nearing the aggregated loan limits. However, I want to become an elementary school teacher and I plan to push through any obstacles in my path.
The area I am most interested is elementary education and certified in bilingual education. When I moved to this beautiful country without knowing anything about the culture or the language, my teachers were those who supported me and taught me the language. They helped me to integrate into this peculiar country. My teachers are the ones who inspired me to study and become a bilingual teacher. One of my goals is to help the students integrate into this culture and teach them the language with the same love and affection my teachers did. My planned pathway to become a teacher would be graduating Cumberland County College with an associate’s degree in education. After graduating, I plan to transfer to Stockton University to earn my bachelor degree in bilingual education. I would like to start working as a teacher assistant, and gain more experience that will help me when I become a teacher.

Like every child I loved to play with my toys but unlike other children I would “teach” my dolls what I learned that day. In the third grade knew I wanted to become a teacher because I had an amazing instructor who ignited my dream to become a teacher. It has been a goal I’ve strived to meet since then. The Teacher Cadet Program will assist me in attaining my goals by helping me gain teaching experience, confidence in presenting, and gain awareness in teaching.
