I, without a doubt, believe that teachers should not be armed with handguns or any weapon that can cause harm to others.
Teachers should not be licensed to have any sort of weapon that can cause damage to one’s self or others. We all understand that it’s a teacher’s job to keep our young children safe at school, but do we really need to go as far as allowing them with loaded and deadly weapons? Teachers, if given that power, could misuse the weapons and harm our children. Having an armed weapon would also raise the probability of distrust and fear, as weapons like guns, with a single pull of the trigger, could take someone’s life away. Furthermore, if the weapons got into the wrong hands, such as a child’s, it will lead to some serious problems.
Starting off with that teachers, if given the power of wielding a dangerous and powerful weapon, could lead to misuse and cause them to take lives away, if not being careful. Guns have the power take a life away just at the pull of a trigger, and if we let our children’s educators have that responsibility it could lead to their minds being corrupted by the sudden power over life and death. Dr Caitlin Snow from S.T.A.R Laboratories confidently states; “Studies have shown that when people are given significant power, as for instance over life and death or general power over

If I knew that the teachers at school; at which a I attend, were given handheld guns, my safety; despite others saying it’s precaution to warn of intruders, would immediately drop as of the reasons I stated above, and for the fact that my trust for my teachers would go down significantly. My parents would not trust the teachers nor would they trust the fact that there are some immature or young kids who would probably take the handheld guns and be immature with them. If teachers were given guns at school, would you really believe your child is
Schools must be more secure. It's hard to find ways to make schools safer without sounding too extreme, but it's better safe than sorry. Lately there has been lots of school shootings and we are trying to find a way how to make learning facilities safer. One of the ways is not arming teacher, but there are many reasonable ways.
There are many reasons that teachers should not carry firearms. One reason is that children like to get their hands on absolutely everything, especially children who are younger. Many children love to allow their imaginations to run wild. They like to search for
Do you think arming teachers would make things safe with guns or would it become more violent? In my opinion teachers shouldn’t be armed with guns and here's why. First reason, people may think it is safe for teachers to be armed with guns but arming teachers would be a bad thing because teachers first responsibility is to teach. My second reason why arming teachers is bad is because the gun can be misguided or misused by students or teachers. Finally, my last reason to why arming teachers is one of the worst idea is because it can only make things hard for the first responders.
If a teacher hesitates to shooting a student it could cost them their life and many others. School shootings happen every day. My personal opinion is that teachers should carry guns because schools around the U.S will be safer. Also Volunteer teachers go through training. But on the other side on things a teacher might hesitate.
An excerpt from the article “Arming Teachers and School Staff with Guns” takes a quote from their president Kenneth S. Trump, he states, "School districts considering arming teachers and school staff with guns would take on significant responsibility and potential liabilities that I firmly believe are beyond the expertise, knowledge-base, experience, and professional capabilities of most school boards and administrators," (National School Safety and Security Services). Meaning that, most teachers do not know how to aim, fire, handle, and care for a firearm. Therefore, a teacher should not be able to possess a firearm in case of an
The big question in a lot of schools today do to several shootings and terrible incidents is whether or not a teacher should be able to be armed with a gun in case a situation of self-defense. It is a concern from regular citizens to teachers and all the way up to the government itself. Realistically, there would be a lot of problems trying to implement guns in the first place but seems reasonable in some ways as well. Teachers having or not having firearms will probably be decided soon enough, but is looking like they won’t have any in the near future. There are several reasons why a teacher should be armed in a school building.
Yet another idea that has been brought forth to help keep schools safer is by giving teachers guns. All around the country we hear mixed reviews based off this question, should we arm our teachers? If you were to go to the news app on your phone, you might see an article on why the NRA wants to arm teachers, or how Jesse Davidson from Dalton High School in Georgia was charged with barricading himself inside his classroom and firing a handgun. I understand that this debate is highly controversial and that a good number of Americans have their own opinion in this matter. Well, this is my opinion.
If you hear gun ammunition close to you, what would be your first impression? School shootings are becoming a tremendous issue. Securing schools are all of our responsibilities in order to get our education, we must make students feel protected. The recent Florida school shooting was a disaster Killing 17 students (Santoni). Arguments about how we should stop these attacks emerged.
Imagine yourself in school. It is your 7th period class and you are just waiting for the bell to ring to finally go home. The day has been totally ordinary until you and your classmates hear a loud gunshot coming from outside the window. Students are screaming and running frantically around the room. Teachers are rushing around doing all the procedures they learned from past drills. Except this is not a drill. This is real. You and your classmates huddle in the corner. Outside the school you hear more gunshots. Would this situation be different if teachers had guns? The answer is no. Teachers and staff at schools shouldn’t be armed with guns.
Teachers are at school to educate and should not have the burden of the role of protecting students from armed shooters. Carrying a gun is not part of a teacher`s job. Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen also holds this position saying that none of her teachers want to be armed (Pignolet). We must listen to our teachers and acknowledge that they do not want to carry a gun. Additionally we should not add an extra job to our teachers who already have enough on their plate.
Should Teachers Be Trained To Use and Carry Guns In Schools? Teacher should be trained to use and carry guns in school. This is because so many students have lost their lives in school shootings because a teacher has no way to defend against a bay nor does the student.
“I’d Feel More Comfortable knowing teachers aren’t armed” - Ben Carson People feeling that guns will make schools safer are usually on that side because most are afraid of being a victim of a school shooting, when most don’t realise that if there is a person in the class already that is armed there will be a more chance of being shot if the teacher has problems after they were “trained” .Teachers being armed at school might be a good thing for people and bad for some others that really just don't like guns at all. According to The New York Post, the Majority of people 82% wouldn’t feel like a teacher having a gun would be necessary. The other 18% feel like it is needed for a less chance of a school shooter to take out people. Guns should be held away from teachers and there are many people that can agree with my position. If teachers were to be armed with guns, the students wouldn’t really be paying attention to what the teacher is trying to teach, but mostly focus on what if the teacher pulls out
Students come to school knowing that they are safe, and that they can get help at any time they need it. Students will become intimidated knowing that their teachers have weapons on them. I myself, speaking as a student, will feel unsafe and like I can’t even be myself without possibly getting a threat from my teacher. Are the teachers going to take out their gun if I didn’t do my
There are many advantages for having teachers armed in the United States because locations which are armed and have high levels of security, are far less likely to have an attack carried out by a criminal or a killer. However evidence-statistics have shown that schools that
My second reason as to why teachers should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon is that it has worked for other countries. Israel and Thailand actually encourage their teachers to carry weapons. There was an article in 2004 in the National Review that is about how Israel and Thailand are set examples of arming teachers. The article stated that, “Though Thailand’s government is extremely hostile to gun ownership in general, it has recognized that teachers ought to be able to safeguard their students and themselves.” I agree with this. Teachers should be allowed to protect their students and themselves and if allowing the teachers to carry a concealed weapon will protect them then let them do it. The article also stated that, “Terrorist attacks on schools and school children could almost be completely eliminated in a very short time.” There are examples of attacks on schools that have failed.
