I, without a doubt, believe that teachers should not be armed with handguns or any weapon that can cause harm to others.

Teachers should not be licensed to have any sort of weapon that can cause damage to one’s self or others. We all understand that it’s a teacher’s job to keep our young children safe at school, but do we really need to go as far as allowing them with loaded and deadly weapons? Teachers, if given that power, could misuse the weapons and harm our children. Having an armed weapon would also raise the probability of distrust and fear, as weapons like guns, with a single pull of the trigger, could take someone’s life away. Furthermore, if the weapons got into the wrong hands, such as a child’s, it will lead to some serious problems.

Starting off with that teachers, if given the power of wielding a dangerous and powerful weapon, could lead to misuse and cause them to take lives away, if not being careful. Guns have the power take a life away just at the pull of a trigger, and if we let our children’s educators have that responsibility it could lead to their minds being corrupted by the sudden power over life and death. If I knew that the teachers at school; at which a I attend, were given handheld guns, my safety; despite others saying it’s precaution to warn of intruders, would immediately drop as of the reasons I stated above, and for the fact that my trust for my teachers would go down significantly. My parents would not trust the teachers nor would they trust the fact that there are some immature or young kids who would probably take the handheld guns and be immature with them.
