Working in a classroom with English Language Learners can be a great learning experience for those going to school to become teachers. Something that I was curious about in the kindergarten classroom that I am in, is how the ELL student’s in the class could learn different educational skills in a way that would be beneficial to them. What are the different strategies that teachers can use with ELL students to make them better learners? Through my question, my hope is to find out different strategies that I could use to help ELL students learn different educational skills.
As we look at principle three it instruct needs to ensure that learners also focus on form. Professor Ellis explains that the teacher can achieve this by focusing on inductive and deductive grammar lessons. It allows and make ELL students aware of explicit grammatical rule, it gives the learner specific practice on grammatical structure, and it gives them the opportunity to get corrective feedback. (Ellis, R, 2008)
Language is always in flux and dynamic, so is grammar, an important component of language. During the passage of time, there were many aspects in human society that have experienced changes, which influenced language. Therefore, the development of grammar is also significant. Grammar has evolved over many centuries, and the rules change from time to time. Teaching grammar plays a central role in every ESL / EFL teacher's classroom. The topics cover a range from letters and sounds, parts of speech, vocabulary and stories to dialogue and conversation, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and written composition. English language and its usage have become extremely emotive issues in recent years... Generally the authors begin with an introduction chapter on the nature of grammar and on the varieties of English and move on to provide an outline description of English grammar. It is to be understood that "Recognizing the goal of the grammar course is to improve students’ grasp of English grammar, and not to make students into linguists. Besides that, grammar translation is easy to be implemented in learning process. The strength points of Grammar Translation Method are students will be able to master the appropriate structures of a language and mistakes made by them in applying speaking ability. The weakness point of Grammar Translation Method tends to be boring to the students in their learning activity. For students who early get bored, they will not be able to master grammar well. If the teacher uses the right method, the result of the study will be maximally. But, if the teacher choose and apply wrong or unsuitable method the result of learning will lack. Teachers need to teach ELL students English orthography, morphology, and syntax. I will recommend to the instructor to teach each part of speech separately. There are many grammatical errors that students can make. Students cannot be overwhelmed with the discussion of many grammar topics in one lesson. It is hard to discuss or to explain each strategy that works best for each part of speech because they are too many. Teachers should evaluate the students to determine which strategy works better according to the topic to be discussed and the students. Teachers should use a variety of engaging teaching techniques to deliver the lesson (Celce-Murcia & Larsen-Freeman, 1999, p. 7). In my opinion, the classroom should be fun for the students

As one of the most important part in English language, grammar gets attention from many teachers around the world. Many researchers have even debated about almost every single thing of it. Meanwhile, for the learners, learning grammar often means they have to learn the rules and patterns of grammar and also have an intellectual knowledge of grammar. Many teachers believe that learning grammar intensively can help the learners build their knowledge, so that they will be able to use the language eventually. Unfortunately, in terms of learners’ success with languages, grammar has been seen to be a quite huge problem. The English grammar acquisition does not come naturally. The learners have to go to school to learn it, dig it deeper, and know every part of it in order to be able to use it well. Many learners have difficulty doing so, few retain the knowledge for long, and hardly anyone finds it very exciting. (Tabbert, 1984: p. 39). Thus, it can be said that by identifying such
The PPP help the teacher to create an effective and active classroom by planned well for this three stages. The PPP also help the students and allowed them to be free with their language and encouraged them to be more creative and explorative. It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that “language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified” (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students
