Team 1 website – Intercultural Communication & Collaboration Intro The site’s layout from the introductory page was simple but effective. It started out stating the course would guide the user on how to communicate and collaborate with international peers but I was confused on who the audience actually was because it was defined as “you”, unless it is pointed it out later within the site. There was a simple header picture which incorporated the navigational tabs and a search bar. I wonder if a more eye-catching header bar would have brought the Intro page to life. The first page is a user’s first impression. I really liked the search bar at the top of the page which creates easy accessibility for the user to find desired content that …show more content…
The word “collaboration” was used on the last slide of the presentation but there wasn’t any evidence of how collaboration was used with international peers in the business world or everyday lives in this particular section. So, I had initially assumed there would be more information as I scrolled down the page pertaining to this. Upon scrolling of the page, this is where I noticed a lot of text and realized that this was identically to the slides above. I wonder if you did a voice-over with your slides to have them read aloud to you throughout each individual click. This would eliminated all the repetitive written text that seemed to be overwhelming, making it less likely to read especially if you have read it in the slide presentation. If the text below was eliminated and an intro paragraph was added before the slide presentation, this would have created a more alluring and dynamic content page. I wonder if the references should be included on a separate tab or if kept on content page somehow organize it to where it is presented in manner to where is has a focus of its own. The “Webinar” page had the same layout as previous pages but was missing the webinar. I feel this is to be added before deadline, so I was unable to critique this part. Time permitting, I will add to this with my thoughts. I did like how that gave another route to the assessment’s tab at the bottom. On the “Assessments” page, I liked the

Productivity in the new culture is experienced to an extremely positive extent. Business dealings and negotiations become secondary nature to the expatriate, and the expatriate’s journey becomes a great success in the perspective of their employing company.
Overall, I have been very impressed with how this course is going so far. I appreciate having a short presentation on the topic each week then having the opportunity to discuss the topic with other group members. I have learned a lot from the readings as well as from other group members. By having everyone share their ideas and thoughts, I feel that I have gotten more out of this course than I had expected. With everyone coming from different educational backgrounds and experiences, it has been interesting to be exposed to different ideas and perceptions on some of these topics. In addition, having group members question and challenge my ideas have promoted me to think more in-depth and explore more closely about the topics. As of right now, there seems to be no issues with my group. Everyone participates in weekly discussions as well as writing the summary. Ideas and opinions are shared in a respectful manner

I believe that you got most of the power point completed. Melissa, please share the power point with the team when it is completed and prior to the staff presentation. Thanks!
The N.A.B. has a great website, however they are missing alot of things. Well, actually a lot of important things that should be included. Some of the things that are missing include; code of ethics, job postings, list of location chapters, or a social media invite! It's really bland, too professional and straight to the point, which take away from the quality of the website. I don't feel like I would feel apart of a family, more like the website is full of teachers and

The AAMI website is well organized and easily maneuvered. I could hear the presentation clearly and all the speakers were well spoken and used proper language throughout. I listened to an audio podcast so there were no pictures or graphics and no readable content. I thought it was a great presentation with a lot of useful information.
Previous researchers have found that for a person to achieve better and more effective communication competence, it is necessary to develop skills that allow an appropriate participation in specific situations. The ability to listen, ask questions, and express concepts or ideas effectively is an important part of communication competence. Intercultural communication presents an unexplored and challenging field that needs to be understood for a better development in communication. (Dillon and McKenzie, 1998). The variables of listening depend on the different perceptions that a person obtains through their cultural background. Furthermore, culture often affects the structure of consciousness in the act of listening. When a person seeks to
As travel and communication have become faster and easier, interaction between people of different cultures has become more and more common. It was once the case that different cultures remained mostly separate from each other, whether due to war, geographic reasons, or beliefs in keeping ethnic purity. Trade and immigration have brought together people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, making communication between people of different cultures unavoidable.
Intercultural communication competence refers to the ability of an individual to adapt and communicate appropriately and effectively across a wide array of cultural contexts. That is to say, for an individual to be considered an intercultural communicator they must understand other’s cultures as well as they understand their own, and apply this understanding to communication (Chen 1-2). With the increasing diversity at the workplace, school and other social settings, it has become increasingly important to learn how to communicate with people from a diverse array of cultures. More importantly, adapting to a more effective intercultural communication competence model provides us with learning opportunities occasioned by the interaction with people from other backgrounds. The intercultural communication competence model comes with some key components including tolerance for uncertainty, self-knowledge, and motivation. The greatest and most important of these aspects is motivation. An individual must be willing to foster relationships with people from a different cultural background. If an individual lacks the willingness to promote intercultural relationships, then other aspects of the intercultural communication model become moot.
The evolution of globalization and the advancement of communication technology have increased the amount of cross cultural, virtual teams in existence in today’s business world. Cross cultural, virtual teams can leverage on the diverse experiences of its members to achieve good results even without the members meeting face to face.
