TeamSTEPPS® can enhance an organization by organizing the collaborative team. This program is designed to improve patient care by enhancing communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals. TeamSTEPPS teaches health care providers new communication techniques, importance of mutual support and situational monitoring. These critical components can prevent infection, medication errors, and other common areas in the healthcare workplace.
Teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare providers is very important. To function effectively there needs to be mutual respect, open communication, and shared decision making in the best interest of the patient. As a member of a team it is vital to know ones own strengths and limitations, this way patients receive the best care.

Health care organizations and the way care is delivered is rapidly changing. Being able to manage, promote, and, facilitate interprofessional team work is essential for health care organizations to be successful. Team synergy for successful interprofessional teams means there is cooperation, collaboration, and the coordination of patient-centered care (LeBlanc, 2014). Working together toward a common goal is a common theme for successful interprofessional teams (Hart, 2015).
Teams are essential to health care because it has been suggested that "each team member's abilities, skills experience, attitudes, values, role perceptions and personality – all the things that make a person unique and they also determine what they are willing and able to contribute, their level of motivation, methods of interaction with other group members and degree of acceptance of group norms and the organization's goals"

From the beginning of the live marketing project, Edmond's Historical Museum, to the end of the live presentation, I committed 100% of myself to the team by being actively involved. My first contribution was visiting the Edmond's Historical Museum on September 28th, 2017 where I gathered notes by effectively listening to Katie Kelly. This was for the purpose of being able to analyze the data at a later time. The data research that I was able to gleam from Katie, included that the museum is seeing a decline in their memberships, there was not enough volunteers to actively seek out renewals, and a majority of the Edmond's transplants moved changing the demographics, and that new exhibits would come
Working in a team is an important responsibility by understanding each other’s role which may include doctor, nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and many more. Team members divide the work based on their scope practice such as acute care, metal health care, homecare etc. Interprofessional collaboration practice is decision making and communicating between individuals for their patient’s health based on their knowledge and skills. It helps to promote habits, maximizing health resources, leading care to be safer with patient’s satisfaction and Canada’s health care (Kenaszchuk, Reeves, Nicholas, & Zwarenstein, 2010).
A team is when people work together to achieve a goal. Teamwork is essential to provide patients with the best care they need. When people work effectively as a team, you are most likely to achieve the patients’ desired outcomes. In the hospital, they sometimes have an emergency called “Code Blue”. This is used to signify an emergency of a patient needing resuscitation, or immediate care due to a cardiac arrest.
Teamwork is vital in healthcare. When all participants are engaged in a program, goals are successfully achieved. Being able to communicate and work collectively as a team requires an appreciation for each other’s area of practice. Every team member has an important role and being acknowledged provides a sense of responsibility and accountability. Essentially, inter-professional collaboration helps ensure that the patient is getting care that is not only accessible but also comprehensive. The plan of a patients’ care includes active participation by all health care professionals working interdependently in accordance to the patient’s preferences, values and beliefs. The health care team accomplishes the goal of meeting the patient’s medical needs by delivering evidence-based practice. To deliver quality care, the patient should always be involved.
“The three outcomes as a result of successful TeamSTEPPS implementation are knowledge, attitude, and performance” (Plonien, Williams, 2015, p. 467). This is achieved through focusing on developing skills which enable teaming.

Teams are often depicted as a group of people sharing leadership of and working together on a specific project, whereas a group (but not a team) consists of individuals who work independently and are led by a strong, focused individual (Erofeev, Glazer, & Ivanitskaya, 2009). In the health care organization, it is important to have a group of people working together as a well a team. Each person individually need to fully understand what his or her role is in a group or team, if not there will be conflicts.
