Technological Advances Before World War 1

World War One, one of the most deadliest wars in history, caused massive damage to countries in Europe. During World War One, the technology advanced, with many creations were created, that caused a high amount of death and destruction. The U-Boat, also known as a submarine, is a underwater boat that the Germans used during World War One. The Tank was developed in World War One to help make crossing no man’s land easier. Poison gas was used in World War One as a new tactic to kill people in the trenches

A gruesome and horrifying war, World War I led to great advancements in technology. Both sides of the war began trying to outdo one another in terms of crafting the best killing machines. With each side developing new weapons to gain the upper hand in the war, war technology became extremely important. New technology assisted soldiers in fighting the enemy in numerous different ways. Important advancements in war technology that helped define the Great War were tanks, machine guns, and flamethrowers.

Throughout time, soldiers needed new technology during World War l. Therefore, people started to have ideas of better and new technology, that developed the start of new weapons and technology to use in the war. This new technology had benefits and it also had problems.

WWI was a war between groups of major industrial powers. New technology made this war extremely destructive. Dynamite invented in 1867 was used in mining and construction became important in weaponry. The use of internal combustion engine, tank, airplane and communication devices was put to military use. The use of modern technology started about 50 years before the WWI. During the American civil war from 1861 to 1865, in the years after this use of technology continued and soldiers tested new weapons through many smaller conflicts. In the beginning of the first WWI, it was just like a clash of 20th-century technology with 19th-century ammunition and weapons in the form of ineffective battle with a large number of causalities.

World War One brought a completely new form of warfare. Gone were the old ways of cavalry and slow firing bolt-action rifles. The war symbolised a change in the way we understand and fight wars. Leon Trotsky said that ‘War is the locomotive of history’. This was certainly true. The war was a catalyst for change.

During the early twentieth century there are many advancement in military technology. One example of military technology was mustard gas. Mustard gas is a chlorine gas that deploys fifteen seconds after the pin is pulled and causes numerous hazards that came in contact with it. Another military technology advancement was long range artillery. Long range artillery is a mechanism that is hand loaded with cannon balls and launches them a couple of miles away. These technologies are important to World War One because they modernized the way we fight today. These technologies also had a negative impact on war and mankind.

Over World War II many things impacted the civilians of many countries in Europe. Such as loss of men, great depression, greater roles for women, technology, and racial tension. All of these things were formed from World War II some for good, and others for bad.

War has always been a brutal event that has been present in throughout our entire history. It is the age-old problem solver from society to society, and generally associated with weapons, blood, and violence. As the world continued to develop, both technologically and economically, the nature of war also changed. Guns have become more efficient, bombs more powerful, and strategies more calculated. The rise of mass production and industrialization had a massive impact on the war, specifically World War I as new technology resulted mass casualties and a more streamlined war style.

World War One was a treacherous start to the early 19th century. It comprised of death, disease and famine. World war one affected many countries for a long period of time and changed the thought of war forever. Developments in warfare and technology influenced the outcome of World war One. Developments and enhancements to technology during the war, how technologies influenced and extended the war and how technologies helped to end the war, all contributing to how technologies influenced the outcome of world war one.

World War 1 has become known as one of the bloodiest wars in recent history and a main factor that contributed to the gruesomeness of this war was the emerging technology during the course of the war. From machine guns, to aircrafts, and chemical weapons each of these technologies contributed to the perpetuation of World War 1 (WW1).

World War One, sparked by the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungary throne, was a global war that began in 1914 and continued until 1918. The advancement of military technology played a significant role in this time period, as it essentially changed the type of warfare and caused numerous deaths. Hence, the claim that “the high death rate of the battlefields in World War One can be attributed solely to the military technology utilised” was correct to a large extent. The powerful military technology caused a perilous war; and by meeting the old strategies with new technology, the war was prolonged. Finally, the harsh living conditions in trench warfare led to numerous diseases and deaths.

How did tank innovation impact warfare and the soldiers who fought in the trenches during World War One?

There are several Americans who use the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with a hope of having full health and total well being. In the National Health Interview survey (NHIS) that was conducted in 2007, there was particular emphasis placed on CAM as used by most Americans and the result were that on estimation, 38% of the adults in America use CAM (National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2011).

For my research paper I have chosen to research how the advanced technology of WWI influenced how war was fought. In this paper I will analyze how wars were fought before WWI and how during the war, new advancements changed the future of warfare. Before World War I, both, European nations and the US changed the world with their innovating technological inventions. Between the 1800-1900s technology ultimately burst with expansion. It changed the lives of all. Three ingenious contributions to these periods were the invention of x-rays, the refrigerator and the airplane.
