For Peer Review Technological change, information processing and supply chain integration: a conceptual model Journal: Benchmarking: an International Journal Manuscript ID: BIJ-06-2015-0064 Manuscript Type: Original Article Keywords: Technological Innovation, Supply chain management, Research and development, Emerging markets, Manufacturing strategy Benchmarking: an International Journal For Peer Review 1 Technological change, information processing and supply chain integration: A conceptual model • Purpose: Technologies change quickly in the automotive industry. This can provide opportunities to firms from emerging economies who try to enter the world stage of automotive production, provided they can react to this more nimbly than established competitors. How technological change affects the supply chain coordination of incumbents from developed economies and new entrants from emerging economies should strongly determine the speed of competitive reaction. We use the example of automotive transmission development to study this, provide a conceptual model for the analysis and offer research propositions. • Design/methodology/approach: We build a conceptual model based on information processing theory and offer research propositions based on case study evidence of three automotive OEMs and two suppliers. • Findings: Overall, we find symptoms of two larger trends: increasing specialization and technological linkages and a need to increase external supply chain integration
The purpose of this report is to become familiar with research tools, to introduce a framework for secondary industry research and gain to practical experience in creating an executive summary. This research paper looks at a broad set of indicators on the Canadian new vehicle industries. The Canadian automotive industry produces light duty vehicles — cars, vans, pickup trucks; heavy duty vehicles—trucks, transit buses, school buses, military vehicles; and a wide range of parts, components, and systems used in vehicles of this nature. To complement its manufacturing activities, the industry boasts a well-developed vehicle dealer network, plus an aftermarket organization which has grown into a world-class distribution system and service provider (Canadian automotive industry, 2014). Canada accounts for a small amount of 4.6% of the Americas new cars market value (New Cars in Canada, 2016). Throughout the project I became more aware of how much the industry is worth. The worlds automotive industry accounts for around $1 trillion in annual sales. (Canada’s Auto and Auto Parts Industry Industrial Outlook, 2006). However, in 2015 the Canadian new cars market had total revenues of $15.0 billion. The market is expected to grow substantially by 18% in 2020 (New Cars in Canada, 2016).
Such an extensive, broad and global supply chain provides opportunities and risks. Opportunities arise from the fact that there are a lot points and places and options that could be changed to cut costs or to improve the quality of production. Similarly there are a lot more risks associated as many different things can go wrong. This is a reason that the SCM at Ford has been under constant change over the years to give them a competitive edge.
Our world is constantly in flux and change is a permanent feature of the environment for workers as well as organizations. Rapidly changing technological capabilities as well as advances have radically changed the nature of work and communication over the last 150 years. The average office or retail clerk would find many of the changes in how business is conducted from the early 20th century to today almost incomprehensible. Furthermore, rapid cultural changes and expectations have also changed how we interact and what our expectations are. In order for organizations to remain relevant in today’s business environment they must be able to adapt quickly to the changing needs of their customers as well as identify and implement appropriate technological advances to the their business strategy and model. Accomplishing these changes effectively requires that organizations implement these changes in a manner that achieves employee or associate, buy in and support. Walmart is currently in the midst of a major roll out of new technology, as well as significant process changes. These changes are in response to technological advances, and customer expectations. Successful implementation of these programs will improve the company’s position relative to competitors as well as in the eyes of consumers.
I’m disappointment because I wasn’t expecting this performance from the you. You appear not to be following the instructions I’ve addressed regarding an in text citation. In my ITEC 7410 Technology Leadership & Vision course, I created a Current Reality Report/SWOT Analysis. This report assesses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that my school currently faces regarding technology integration using the ISTE’s Essential Conditions for successful technology integration. As a result of completing this artifact, I believe that our three main areas of focus should be on increasing parental involvement, the number of proficient digital tools available, and decreasing the achievement gap between ELL and low SES students.

The process of globalization has numerous significant effects on countries, organizations, and individuals. These effects can be observed in the quality of products, in their prices, but also in their availability. Because of globalization, numerous companies prefer to expand their business on international level. Some of them outsource some of their processes and activities to cheaper destinations that allow them to reduce their investments.
The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain division was responsible for streamlining the supply chain and the year 2013 was a good one for the U.S. automotive market as sales rose 7.6 percent to 15.6 million vehicles. This is a substantial comeback from the levels of 2009-2010 when severe recession forced the bankruptcy of General Motors and other automobile companies and caused many other automakers to lose revenue and profits hence reducing labor and operation costs by massive worker layoffs and downsizing by closing manufacturing plants.
This paper seeks to compare core and enabling technologies of two organizations in the automobile industry. General Motors Corporation experienced a crisis that recorded another operating loss of $7,668 million during the fiscal year of 2006, while Toyota Motor Corporation recorded an operating income of approximately $19 billion during the fiscal year of 2006, an increase of 19.2% over 2005. The net profit of Toyota was approximately $13.9 billion in the fiscal year of 2006, an increase of
The OEM encourages much more technology transfer in global production network (GPN) compared to joint ventures, outsourcing, licensing and etc. Hobday and Mike described that OEM acted as a training school for latecomers, enabling them to overcome entry barriers and to assimilate manufacturing and design technology (Hobday, Mike, 1995). Furthermore, TNC depends
different departments in Almost 21 and its members in the supply-chain network provides flexibility for users to deliver and analyze information to construct a regime to serve customers in a more effective way. For example, Almost 21 might need information from distributors to identify the sales of its design to make pricing adjustment to its product. This approach greatly reduces time to receive the physical documents and therefore allows Almost 21 to make speedy response to the targeted market. From a CRM perspective, the interrelated databases and customers’ participation in the development of data sets up an image that the company emphasizes the significance of customer opinions which helps to develop a long-term relationship with the
This paper will show how upgrading an information management system will help the company increase their security and making decisions based on quantitative data once the researcher conducts the research. The Chief Information Officer of the company decided it was time for an upgrade to the company information system. The information technologist will be looking at upgrading the organization hardware, software, networks, and telecommunications system. Therefore, by collecting data, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, inference, and analysis of variance will give the technologist the information to determine the strength and weakness of the organization.
Many complex and more diverse decisions confront supply chain managers on a regular basis: what would be more efficient to manufacture in-house or to outsource; what new channels to implement that it would benefit their customers and suppliers, or how all new technologies, platforms, and practices have to be aligned to enable real-time supply chains. Current information technology reduced outsourcing transaction costs drastically, enabled companies to an increased supervision and control over offsite work, and outsourcing services can deliver faster and more convenient, but technology alone is not the solution. If a company decides to embrace changes in business processes and business culture, those changes can support a long way toward delivering a better product for less money. Complex sphere of activities in many countries is not relevant anymore because a massive number of activities outsourced became commonplace, a new normal.
