Too Smart? What is technology? Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, and methods to solve a problem and to achieve a goal. Technology is rapidly advancing every day to create a more efficient human lifestyle. However, technology is advancing rapidly to the point where it is becoming too intelligent, unpredictable, and uncontrollable for the human creators to control. Although the benefits tend to be great, the risks attached is far too great to be ignored. There are two main risks in advancing technology. The first risk is that the technology is programmed to be deteriorated. Technology is always developing and the human race is always getting shrewder. “Technology offers a continual, if unevenly, expanding domain of increasing human control and power in the world,” which foreshadows the risks perfectly (Allenby and Sarewitz). With the more intelligent technological systems available, there are more dangerous risks implemented. In fact, the risk includes autonomous weapons. Autonomous weapons were created for protection without putting human lives at uncertainty. The right person can control the power of unleashing critical weapons for the common good, however, many problems may arise if a person or organization commandeers the dangerous autonomous weapon.
