Since the invention of the car, technology has been on the fast track to changing our lives. Technology affects every single aspect of modern society. There isn’t an industry that hasn’t been affected by technology. Whether it’s transportation, communication, security, banking or healthcare, they all rely on technology in one way or another. Overall technology has proven to be more beneficial than detrimental to society because technology allows for advancements in the medical, educational, and law enforcement fields.
Technology allows for advancements in the medical field that help healthcare providers cure illnesses, and improve our quality of life. Some of these advancements include inventions such as the pacemaker and artificial limbs. Pacemakers are used to treat arrhythmias. Arrhythmia is described as a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast or too slow, or with an irregular rhythm, causing the heart not to be able to pump enough blood to the body. Symptoms of arrhythmia can range from fatigue, shortness of breath, or fainting all the way to damage to the body's vital organs, loss of consciousness, or death. A pacemaker can relieve symptoms such as fatigue and fainting along with helping a person who has abnormal heart rhythms resume a more active lifestyle.
