Most people think of pregnancy as being an exciting moment in life to experience the joy of parenthood. Parenthood is something that all committed married couples look forward to and hope for. This concept is usually thought of by adults that can manage to support a family and acquires a strong partnership with a lifetime companion. Commitment is one of the key concepts to successfully raising a child. However, this exciting news turns into a tragedy for an unexperienced teenager undergoing pregnancy. Teens are unstable for providing an adequate environment for a newborn and lack the skill of being a caretaker. This can lead to difficulties for teenage married couples because they are still young and inexperienced with adult-like situations. Teenagers are prone to many challenges when transitioning to parenthood that are eventually overcame as they gain experience. Experience is learned by a couple as they gain responsibility, grow older, and become better committed as parents. Assuredly, parenting teens have many challenges that they are required to overcome in order to maintain a life that supports them and their baby. According to Herrman, “An increased emphasis on goals, an appreciation of the need for an education, and a desire to be a positive role model for their children provided the incentive to achieve in school” (Herrman). In order for teens to give their unborn baby a great life, they have to acquire motivation to help them cope with parenting and the responsibilities that are acquired for supporting a child. It is important for young parents to complete their education to be able to meet their baby’s needs. Babies have many needs that are often very complicated, time consuming, and tedious that requires patience from the parents. According to Sadler, “While it may be apparent that it is important for young mothers to remain in high school after having a child, child care is often the central issue that interferes with regular attendance and school completion” (Sadler).
