When picking a scene to analyze in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it is easy to go straight to the temptingly classic and romantic balcony scene. Especially in the case of Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation Romeo + Juliet, the director gives viewers plenty to talk about with his innovative staging that puts Romeo and Juliet on the same level. However, a more brief scene that gives way to important insight about the film is Romeo and Juliet’s wedding. In Shakespeare’s play the audience does not actually witness the wedding, so Luhrmann had total creative freedom in what he wanted this scene to look like. When the two young lovers finally reach the end of the aisle together, they quickly evoke the image of children playing dress up. Romeo’s suit is old-fashioned and too big for him, as if he borrowed it from his father’s closet. Juliet wears a 1950’s style halter dress, hanging on her like a costume. Her hair is messily pulled into an updo with strands hanging down by her face, making her look like a kid who has tried to do a fancy new hairdo but does not quite know how and could probably use a haircut besides that. Attire aside, Romeo and Juliet just have very young-looking faces. The actors portraying them, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, are ages 21 and 17 and you can tell by their bright faces and softened features that they are still quite young to be getting married (Rolling Stone). Teen rebellion is caused by wanting to prove a point and a craving for freedom. During teenage years you always want prove a point weather to an authority figure or even to yourself. Romeo and Juliet were a huge part in the movie the reason why because they were both rebellies. The reason because they were rebellious is because they got married at a young age and also got married without their parents permission. Romeo kills Juliet's cousin witch the king said upon them they would not fight again and if they do not follow they must suffer the consequence from the king. When Juliet finds out that Tybalt has been killed and Romeo is in exile, for killing Tybalt, Juliet feels both passionate about Romeo and disappointed in both Romeo and herself, which reveal her inner struggle. In Act 3, Juliet’s Nurse comes back with this news that Tybalt is dead and that Romeo is such an awful person for killing him. Juliet fights back at the Nurse, and herself, for speaking bad about Romeo. She claims, ““Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name, When I, thy three hours' wife, have mangled it? But wherefore, villain, didst thou kill my cousin? That villain cousin would have killed my husband.” (3.2.99-101). This shows that Juliet is passionate about Romeo, because first of all, she says that she was wrong to say bad things about her husband.

Many teenagers make bad decisions, and act in a way most adult would say is unintelligent. Romeo and Juliet was a story about two feuding families with the same wealth living in Verona. After a big fight Prince Escalus tells them that if there is another fight they will be killed.  Later that night Romeo meets Juliet at her father’s party and they both fall in love, after the party Romeo talks with Juliet about getting married and she agrees to have the wedding the very next day. Even though they have made many immature mistakes (like marrying only after knowing each other less than twenty-four hours), Romeo and Juliet have matured throughout the play because they have both put each other before themselves, they both have been more aware and considerate of other people instead of being vain and inconsiderate, and they both have tried to control their own fates instead of letting fate control them.

In this scene of the play, Juliet is met with the internal struggle of whether or not she will drink the vial Friar Laurence has given her as part of the plan. In the song the lyrics introduce with how “Some people watch, some people pray” “some people hope, some people pray.” I believe this is Juliet's internal conflict on how she is praying for a miracle for people to watch. The next line that the play reflects is where it says “Cause even heroes get the blues or any misery you choose we like to use and we were born to lose”. The plays reflects on how Juliet who is a main character or well Heroine of the story but despite that she stills feels sad and the misery she chooses is to fake
