One of the world's biggest problems in today's society is teenage sex. United States has the highest pregnancy, abortion and child birth among teenagers. The biggest reason for this is because children grow up with the media promoting sex. Movies, music and magazines send the message that sex is okay and often expected. Teenagers don't fully understand the consequences that can arise from there decisions. The national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy has done a lot of studies and found about twenty percent of adolescents will have sexual intercourse before there fifteenth birthday and one in seven sexually active fourteen year olds will become pregnant. More than 2 out of 3 public school districts have a policy to teach sexuality education. The remaining 33% of districts leave policy decisions up to individual schools or teachers The next biggest thing next to sexual intercourse is oral sex. Oral sex is defined as mouth to genitalia. Most teens don't view oral sex as sex so the statistics are outrageous. Slightly more than half of American teenagers ages 15 to 19 have engaged in oral sex, with females and males reporting similar levels of experience, according to the most comprehensive national survey of sexual behaviors ever released by the federal government. Our media, educators, and peers need to make things better so these statistics go down. It is unbelievable how high they have gotten recently. The place to start would be the school. We need to make our education about sex a lot more in depth.
