Language impacts people and gives them different perspectives, opinions, and ideas to be aware of. With these perspectives, people can start taking action instead of depending on hope. It can also unite them together and cause them to fight for the ability to create their own nation. Patrick Henry’s speech, Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death, discusses his beliefs and is motivation for the people. His views on opinions, strength, motivation, and hope help to talk about how language can lead to the development of a nation. Language can be proven powerful in the way that it allows people to understand other’s ideas and provides strength and motivation, which unites people together to form communities without the limitations of hope.

In Patrick Henry’s speech Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death, he tells everyone of his ideas and acknowledges that there will be some people who have different perspectives on the matter. “But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore I hope it will not be disrespectful to those gentlemen...” (Henry) He then goes on to say that he hopes he doesn’t offend anyone who thinks differently, but he is still going to voice his opinions. Not everyone views certain topics the same way. Patrick Henry realizes that people should be able to express their thoughts and not be afraid of what others are going to say about them.
