Fashion in the 1970s, from begging to end, was overall a extremely bright decade. A lot of new fashion trends came to Australia from the influence and commercialisation of America. Australia did develop their own style along the way with new designers emerging, such as Linda Jackson and Jenny Kee. We shifted away from British ties and began to become a nation of our own, developing our own style whilst still following popular trends that were appealing to us.
In the early 1970s Australia saw a new generation of pants, skirts, dresses and roller skates. Some of the trends became so outrageous that they gradually began to emerge into new and improved designs. The Years between the 1950’s and 1960’s was an explosive time in fashion. The 50’s represented an out coming of the new generation. People began to gain their own personal style and appearance, influenced by films and singers (“Vintage Fashion”).
