Tensions between North Korea vs. South Korea and the U.S. have been high as of late. This is due to the missile tests and nuclear weapons development by North Korea, and threats of nuclear war as well. Joint U.S. and South Korean military forces which are comprised of 17,000 U.S. troops and 300,000 South Korean military units demonstrate military exercises known as Operation Foil Eagle 2016 that will take place from March 7 to April 30 in South Korea to run concurrently with another military exercise in South Korea known as Operation Key Resolve, which runs from March 7 and ends on March 18. Every year these joint military exercises take place, it puts North Korea on high alert as they view these exercises as an aggressive has taken steps to put their nuclear arsenal at the ready. North Korea has issued a threat of a nuclear preemptive strike. As a counter threat, North Korea launched 2 ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on March 9 and made threats that they could wipe out Manhattan. Strained relations between the U.S. and South Korea and North Korea have been a global issue for many years now. It all began with the Korean War in which the country was divided by the North fighting the South. The South was assisted by the United Nations coalition led by the United States where as the North was assisted by China. The conflict ended on July 27, 1953 which led to an armistice agreement dividing North and South as independent countries. This has impacted both countries
