This metaphorical concept of “path” comes up in both texts but is mentioned in very similar but different ways and this is what makes it so interesting to look at. Although the conceptual metaphorical system and mysticism differ from each other they still have ways in which that are very similar and make them fascinating to compare. When we look at Teresa of Avila’s Way of Perfection we can see how “path” is a part of the conceptual metaphorical system in relation to mysticism. Through Teresa of Avila’s Way of Perfection text the “path” is found through prayer because prayer is the main theme of the text. Throughout this text the author is trying to attain a very strong love of prayer starting with the three necessary prayers to retain a life full of prayer and God. (Teresa of Avila’s Way of Perfection) From this we can see how the overarching concept in this text is prayer is the way of perfection and prayer is how perfection must be achieved when it comes to Christian mysticism and spirituality. Teresa of Avila has many texts with this being one of her more simplistic texts the way of “path” and achieving the ultimate perfect life is easier to understand.…
