Today’s media (news) plays an enormous role in the lives of people in directing a specific perception of the world around them. Most often media conduct's a subconscious effect upon its spectators in which the upshots are deliberately or illdeliberatly towards a particular topic.

I have been a student in the Thomas County School System ever since I started pre-school. During my time here, I have loved every minute of it, learning and having great experiences with friends and teachers here. Over the last four years of my high school experience, I have noticed that there have been more threats of bombings and shootings around the nation. Even though we do have a safe school and take precautions, there is still room for error. I am proposing that we make school a safer place for kids to learn by installing bulletproof glass as well as door-stoppers in each class.

The Boston Massacre and the killings that took place at Kent State University occured 200 year apart from each other, but there is a striking resemblance between the two events. It is evident that history repeats itself. Both of the events were brought on by tensions between the powers that be and the people, became so violent that officials were forced to take charge, and after tragedy occurred, no one suffered any consequences.

Many people were injured or killed in the explosion. Of those who survived some ended up being permanently disabled. While many felt betrayed and hurt that someone from their own country would do something like this, they wondered why this would happen to them. When people think of Oklahoma, they usually think about flatlands and waving wheat. The thought of terrorism would never come into mind. This is exactly what the people of Oklahoma City would’ve been thinking if asked about terrorism. Sadly, on the day of April 19, 1995, Oklahoma and the nation was shocked as the unthinkable happened. The rest of the world stood still, and watched as people were rushed from the building. Families received information about their loved ones, and soon learned that they were no longer living. Parents were also sickened by the fact that their children would never be able to go to daycare again. As for the man in charge of this operation, his slow but authorized death was watched by families and friends of the victims. The rest of the nation should’ve been able to view this great punishment along with the families who were affected.

Strikes and protests have always been a way to unite people in their fight to object certain practices or demand certain change. In 1914, first generation immigrants went on strike after working under horrid conditions and not getting paid fair wages. All they asked for was a small raise and to work eight hour days. The shooters names were Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. There are many different theories on why they did it. They were bullied, they were different, and some say they did it so they would just be remembered. “Klebold was hurting inside while Harris wanted to hurt people” says Dave Cullen who did an investigation trying to understand why two high schoolers could do such a thing. Dylan and Eric were a part of a trench coat mafia. They both had loving families, and were raised good. They wanted the shooting to be the “most deaths in United States history” and it would’ve been if their plan would have worked. They planted bombs in the cafeteria but they didn’t go off, they had a backup plan though. When they realized the bombs didn’t go off they grabbed their guns and headed into the school. If their bombs would’ve gone off it would’ve killed around six hundred people.

In the D.C, Baltimore area, two people, John Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo drove around on a shooting spree that killed and inflicted terror on many people. The spree lasted from October 2nd, 2002 until October 24th.

The personal journals of the two perpetrators referenced that they wanted the event to compete with those of the Oklahoma City bombing and other deadly events that happened in the United States around the 1900s. The person in your resident did not shoot, but the police might charge them with accessory to the crime and then everyone in that household get evicted. Where do the little kids go. what did they have to do with someone making the wrong choice. This person that made the wrong choice may be their older brother or sister. What can the kids or their mother do about this.
