Texas Challenges

There are numerous universities in Texas that offer great things. The hardest decision for me is picking and choosing a university that offers everything I want. Texas A&M university is a good fit for me because it offers psychology, a great variety of extracurricular activities.

I chose Texas A&M, because it’s simply one of the best universities in the state and the nation, especially when it comes to engineering and school spirit.

The cost of IU can vary depending on if you are from in state or out of state. Out of state tuition and expenses are usually more expensive. In state tuition and expenses are usually less expensive. In state tuition costs $24,538 for the cost of attendance. The cost are broken down into several categories. Tuition and fees at IU cost $10,388, room and board cost $9,794, and books and supplies cost $1,230. These cost are just the direct cost of going to IU. There are also transportation which costs $1,030 and personal expenses which cost $2,096. Out of state tuition can cost a little to a lot more. Out of state tuition costs $47,890 for the cost of attendance. Just like in state it is broken down into different categories. Tuition and fees for out of state students are $33,740, room and board is $9,794, and books and supplies are $1,230. This is just the total direct cost for students who are from out of state. Transportation and personal expenses are the same for out of state students and in state students. Students look for the cost of in state of out of state to determine if they would like to attend or if they can afford it (IU Cost).

As I get closer and closer to graduating High School, I start to think about where I would like to further my education career. Being born and raised in Plainview, Texas I have watched Texas Tech football since I was an infant, my family roots me on to attend college and be the first one in my family to attend an education career after graduating High School. Texas Tech is definitely my go to college of choice, I would like to attend Tech to get my BSN (Bachelor of Science in nursing). I have wanted to go into the medical field since I started High School.

Cost for tuition and fees is approximately $32,610, and the cost of books and supplies is about $1,498.

Out-of-state tuition per year is $63,954. The school is cheaper for applicants who are residents of the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region, for whom tuition costs $33,519. However, out of WWAMI region students may apply for residency status in Washington State after demonstrating a year of primary residency in Washington State, and that can help lowering their tuition costs. The cost of tuition is $45, 167. For room and board it is $5, 064. That would all add up to a grand total of about 50, 231. For some financial aid, I would apply for a grant. I would also apply for a scholarship. Hopefully it would bring it down a tremendous amount.

If you are from Illinois the average tuition is $15,600 - $20,600, books/supplies are around $1,2000, Room and board with 10 meals a week $10,800, miscellaneous $2,500 with a total of $30,100 - $35,100. With other states the average tuition is $30,200 - $35,200, the rest is the same with a total of $44,800 - $49,800. International average tuition is $31,000 - $38,100 with a total of $45,600 - $52,600.

The estimated expenses for 2017-18 full-time undergraduate living on or off campus is $18,828 per quarter and $56,485 per year. That is including tuition ($40,464 per year), student activities and technology fees (mandatory, $429 per year), Room and Meal Plan (traditional residence-hall double with a Weekly Block plan, $11,232 per year), textbooks, supplies, average loan fee (for student-loan borrowers), miscellaneous/personal, and transportation average cost ($4,360 per year). I would like to pursue in a PhD to continue to position myself throughout my career after I graduate from the UNT System College of Pharmacy. As working as a pharmacist technician for 4 months, I have witnessed that many pharmacists are getting replaced by other pharmacists. I used to believe that pharmacists are very stable, but I realized that there are no stable jobs in a dog-eat-dog world. I know the importance of keep improving myself to stand out from the same groups of people. Pursing another 3 to 5 years at school after getting PharmD could give even broader perspectives in my field by having both degrees. Pursuing PhD will differentiate me form others by allowing me to become a good technical and real thinker.

I assume that you would be surprised at the cost of room and board, tuition, and financial aid. Personally, I believe that the cost of tuition is a reasonable and affordable price of $13,840 for in-state

It’s always been a dream of mine to further my education. After searching all over Texas, I choose Texas State is best for me. I have pictured myself many times attending. I would like to attend this university because Texas State offers a major I am passionate about and has such a great atmosphere.

My decision to pursue Pharmacy as a career choice was something that started way before I even had the thought process to explain it; I recall being in 7th grade, having conversations with my friends about what we wanted to be when we got older, who we wanted to resemble, where we’d hope to end up someday. My answer was always the same. And, although I can’t pinpoint a time when it started, I know the desire to be a Pharmacist has been there for as long as I can possibly remember.

Becoming a pharmacist is a very time consuming process. Students must complete all of the pre-pharmacy requirements, take licensure exams, and finally get into and graduate from an accredited pharmacy school with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. While that might not sound like a lot, it takes eight years of hard work. A lot of undergraduates journey into the field with visions of dollar signs floating in their heads. Then they start taking their pre-pharmacy courses and decide that maybe becoming a pharmacist is not their calling. Many people have told me that hard work and determination going into a precise goal will get you anywhere you want to go in this world.
