From a cruel monarchy to a federal system, our country has come a long way. However, what would’ve happened if we stayed a confederal system instead of a federal? Would we have been overruled by a different country or would our nation be into pieces? Although we are a federal system now I believe a confederal system would never work for the United States because our states would never agree upon anything. Each state has its different problems and solutions.
One negative effect of having a confederate system is that the states or local governments will have to find a way to get their resources. States today in modern day have to get funds from the national government in order to keep some programs. For example, Texas has more republicans than democrats. Since the state is more republican leaning then the state wants to keep important programs and not use much of the state’s money for health services or education. Texas has been increasingly using money from the federal government since 1977. To this date, the revenue has doubled since 1977. For example, the civil war, which was caused by conflict between the union and the confederate. The civil was caused by different views and equality rights because of their cultural beliefs. So therefore the cultural political beliefs hinder the system. The victory determined the countries fate by telling whether it was going to be a confederate or a federal government. The union wanted to be a federal state while the confederate wanted it to be a confederal state with slavery. The union won as you may see but the war ended up killing 625,000
