The state of Texas has a bicameral legislature, which means it has two chambers. The House of Representatives which has 150 members who serve 2 year terms and the Senate with 31 members who serve 4 year terms. In order to serve either chamber, both require one to be a qualified voter, live in their district 1 year, and be a U.S. citizen. There are some additional requirements, and they are similar but different. Such as, the House you must be 21 years old and a resident of Texas for 2 years. The Senate one must be 26 years old, and be a resident for 5 years. There are top single executives in the Texas Legislature, which are white males. The Texas Attorney general is Ken Paxton, 55 years old, born in North Dakota. He attended Baylor University where he received a B.A. in psychology. He also has a M.B.A. and a law degree. Ken has served in both chambers of the legislature, and worked for JC Penney as a private attorney. The General Land Office Commissioner is none other than George P.
