The state of Texas has a bicameral legislature, which means it has two chambers. The House of Representatives which has 150 members who serve 2 year terms and the Senate with 31 members who serve 4 year terms. In order to serve either chamber, both require one to be a qualified voter, live in their district 1 year, and be a U.S. citizen. There are some additional requirements, and they are similar but different. Such as, the House you must be 21 years old and a resident of Texas for 2 years. The Senate one must be 26 years old, and be a resident for 5 years. There are top single executives in the Texas Legislature, which are white males. Interestingly, Dan Patrick has a past career as a radio talk show host, a movie producer and writer which are all Christian based. The Texas Attorney general is Ken Paxton, 55 years old, born in North Dakota. He attended Baylor University where he received a B.A. in psychology. He also has a M.B.A. and a law degree. Ken has served in both chambers of the legislature, and worked for JC Penney as a private attorney. The General Land Office Commissioner is none other than George P.
