Every day there are many that are killed from texting and driving. So many people get injured or even killed because of texting and driving. Several people are addicted to their phones, especially teens. Teens are obsessed with their phones, they are always waiting for some to text them back. Texting and driving is a distraction that everyone should avoid because it can result in injury or death to oneself or others. This may result in property damage, and the probability for one to receive legal consequences.

Nearly 1.6 million car accidents are recorded each year, out of those accidents 330,000 result in injury or death (Edgar Snyder & Associates). Your life or someone else's life can change dramatically while driving just because someone was on their phone. Texting and driving is a real issue in our country and outside of spreading awareness or creating ineffective distracted driving laws. no one has really tried to solve this problem. Texting and driving is a problem because too many innocent lives are lost every day. The Government should implement an app that rewards people for not being on their phone while driving because so many people die every day from texting and driving.

Texting and driving is when you use your phone while operating a motor vehicle. When making this choice to do this, drivers often: drift off to the sides of roads, run stop signals, run into another car, etc. Using your phone any kind of way is distracting because you are taking your eyes off the road, and into a screen. Even though the time it takes to text is really small, that’s all it takes to causing a car accident. These behaviors are starting to get embedded in our social norms (Seiler).Texting and driving is growing more common because of the popularity of the use a cell phone and texting.

Secondly, people are under the impression that they are always under time pressure, hence, they try to multitask. But unfortunately, in my opinion, they got it wrong, multitasking is an amazing quality but there is no place for it, when driving. There are many tasks in this world that require a full focus, and driving is one of them. One should be fully focused on driving and the road ahead, otherwise the repercussions could be fatal. Lastly, some people do not understand the meaning of priority. Human life should always be the number one priority. Therefore, texting should never be a higher priority than your or other people’s life.
