In “Thanksgiving: A Personal History” By Jennifer New, She experiences internal conflict because she is confused on how she should celebrate her first thanksgiving as an adult, to either use old traditions she did as a child or to start a new thing as an adult.

This year Thanksgiving is on November 23,2017. Every year my family Thanksgiving is the best, to me at least. So we always have Thanksgiving at my Grandmas and Grandpas, but not this year we are having it at my house. Which I mean could be good and bad. Good is it is at my house so it’s cool and bad, the house has to be completely spotless or my mom will freak out. Normally what we do every year is we get my family together and have dinner, mess around, and watch football. This year my dad's brother is coming with his three daughters and his wife and my grandpa and grandma. I really can’t wait to see them all because I don't really see them that much as I would like to. When we have a family dinner like this we always have a lot of food for everyone.

Heavenly smells in the air, footballs on T.V, family is gathered around, and a comfortable homey feel of my grandmother’s house makes Thanksgiving one of my favorite meals of the year. I will always have memories of thanksgiving at my grandmothers. The smell that rushes your nose as you walk in to the house. So many mouthwatering smells go through the air at my grandmother’s thanksgiving. Her Thanksgiving dinner never fails to fulfill my expectations. With the whole family gathered and the dinner table full of delicious food, I can’t help but feel content.

On Thursday, October 20th, the 71st Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner took place in New York. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton took the stage, just like every other presidential candidate in the past, to entertain the audience with light humor. The purpose of this dinner is to raise money to help poor families in the Catholic Archdiocese of New York. This year, the dinner raised a record $6 million dollars, despite the behaviors of the candidates. This dinner is typically an opportunity for the candidates to show the country that they are only “temporary adversaries, not permanent enemies, and that leaders have shared values that help hold the system together” (Louis, 2016). Unfortunately, Trump and Clinton took this dinner as an opportunity to make malicious jabs at each other one more time.

It was the dreadful day kids running around and people stomping, jumping. I was built to withstand a elephant stamped but nothing like this. I live on break road in Georgia I was built in 1999 and if I do say so myself I'm a beautiful house. Now back to the dreadful day it was call thanksgiving everybody comes the wife family and the husband. The children are horrible because they drop things lot of things that stain my floor and turn it pink.

My siblings and I raced out the front door. Our grandma, Mimi, was finally here! The weather was just beginning to cool off. The trees outside rustled in the crisp breeze. I love Thanksgiving. Family together, cool weather, and the scent of pumpkin spice filling rooms.

The leaves were brown and the weather was cold, but not unbearably cold. The morning had just started and the sun was barely out. I was eight years old at the time and it was Thanksgiving Day, and on top of the various assortment of food, my family and I had relatives coming to our house to partake in this Thanksgiving feast. My mother had gotten numerous amounts of groceries from the store throughout the week, including potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, mix for stuffing, a humongous ham, and to top it if we had the staple for every Thanksgiving, a turkey. I could already smell the scent of a honey baked ham in the oven as I got out of bed and started my day in the bathroom.

When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.

Thanksgiving Day brings to the airlines of the USA and Canada much more passengers. Millions of citizens are flying to their home and back, this year airlines expect 25 million passengers around Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate our joys with friends and family. Unfortunately, if you are the person designated to cooking the holiday dinner, the joys can turn into complete and total fear. I'll never forget the first time I made Thanksgiving dinner for twenty family members and friends. I waited until the last minute to start and the dinner ended in a complete disaster. In the years following that failure, I have learned that preparing a Thanksgiving dinner is easy...if you plan ahead.
