The movie “The 33.” was a very enjoyable movie directed by Patricia Riggen. The movie was based on the San Jose mine in Copiapo, Chile. The movie was released on November 13, 2015.on survival. It is very highly recommended because it gives a clear visual on what survival looks like. It also shows the needs and desires to do something in order to stay alive underground. Another reason is because it showed the emotion the miners were going through. The movie gives a very definite visual on what happened when the miners went underground. The miners had been trapped in the Atacama Desert, 2,300 feet underground. It shows the miners underground working when the copper-gold mine started to shake, the detail it had shown them trying to escape was
The film employs a combination of visual and auditory cues to convey Stanley's internal struggle, such as quick cuts between Stanley's conflicted expressions, the warden's menacing laughter, and the sounds of the surrounding wilderness that seem to echo his uncertainty. Through this intense confrontation, Stanley not only confronts his fears and doubts, but also gains a newfound sense of courage and determination to seek the truth at all costs. After overcoming his supreme ordeal, Stanley emerges victorious and is rewarded with a newfound sense of purpose and self-discovery. The reward stage of his hero's journey in Holes is symbolized by the revelation of the long-buried treasure that holds the key to breaking his family's curse. The film uses sweeping aerial shots of the vast desert landscape, ethereal lighting effects to highlight the treasure's glow, and triumphant musical score to convey the sense of hope and redemption that Stanley has
In chess, the grand plan is checkmate. You plan several steps ahead and each move brings you that much closer to checkmating your opponent. For me, my checkmate is being able to give back to my family and community through becoming a doctor. The documentary “13th” by Ava DuVernay inspired me to want to break the limits that have been set for black people in America. The documentary motivated me to think how I can impact and help my community grow and flourish. Every piece in chess has its own individual strength, whether it be the knight’s ability to jump over other pieces or the pawns ability crown as a knight, bishop, or queen. I realized my strength lies in my unyielding ability to help and care for others, which is why I decided to pursue
One interesting aspect to be noticed on this movie is its linearity. The film purposely does not follow a linear and chronological narrative of the facts, which leads the viewer to the feeling of doubt and curiosity. This element was well explored by the director, thus creating a greater dynamic to a story apparently simple and easy to be told.
Many say that writing is a way of life. Who am I to disagree? To best represent how I feel about writing, I have chosen the movie “Life”, directed by Ted Demme, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. This film is about two young black men from New York that come from two different backgrounds, but they end up taking an unexpected journey to Mississippi. While in Mississippi, the two leave a nightclub, and come across a dead body. Ray and Claude were falsely sentenced to life in a Mississippi penitentiary. Their lives are like my writing. Everything starts out fine, but something unexpected always pushes me away from my state of well-being. I enjoy writing with a passion; however, my passion doesn’t enjoy me. No matter how good my
The images displayed were sharp and straight to the point. An example of this is seen when they are comparing Monsanto employees with the government employees. The camerawork was very good in this film and it helped the audience understand the movie more. Two examples of the good camerawork are when there was a high angle sweep shot over cattle farms showing how many cows there were and how cramped they were and another is the perspective shot of the shopper in the supermarket showing the choices of food all made by the same
The little character stories included throughout the movie are very significant to the personality of the character. These emotions of the characters were captured by the director Kriv Stenders in the movie Red Dog, The stories of the miners really give the audience a glimpse of who they are deep down. The movie is set in the Pilbara, Western Australia. The inhabitants need a friend to share the feelings of loneliness and loss, to provide a sense of purpose. Red Dog helps the miners to create a sense of community. Vanno, Jocko and Peeto are unique their stories are portrayed throughout the movie.
Shootings started as the buses arrived. 43 students were taken from the bus from policemen. As further investigation was taken into action, they say that the policemen and government have some kind of connection to the drug cartel war. The cartel then took action towards these future teachers thinking that they were members of the rival cartel – further investigation has discovered. The cartel then took the future students to a garage dump to then torture them. In the documentary, one of the Guerreros Unidos members speaks out about what they did to the forty three students. He states that a few of the students died on
A child’s life has many milestones such as learning to walk, learning to talk and their first day at school. Throughout all these stages parents are obliged to provide guidance, safety and support for their children as they learn to interpreate the world for themselves. Christine Jeffs’ visual text, Rain explores the story of thirteen year old, Janey whose parents are so caught up in self-absorption, they neglect their parental roles to both Janey and her younger brother Jim.This up-bringing of Janey and Jim leave the audience pondering, Does the abandonment of morale parents roles shape a childs transition into adolescence? John Ford's movie movie the Searchers(1956), was very well shot. There was many upon many great shots, most of which, was from the background of the scenery. Then another good one was the one when they was buffalo hunting in the snow, just the contrast of the buffalo on the snow was pretty neat. Then most of the shots did have a lot of depth in them from the mountainous backgrounds. Then there was the parts when something bad happened and it didn't show what happened. Like when Ethan comes back to his family's home and it's destroyed and the family is dead it did not show the bodies of the family. Then when Ethan found Lucy, he just described her body and it left your mind to think what happened to her. But the movie could have
They’re on a romantic expedition to explore a continent that becomes a journey of self-discovery. Like Billy and Wyatt, they travel through iconic national landscapes: through the flatlands of Patagonia, along the rocky coast of Chile, up into the snow-blanketed Andes, to the mystical ruins of Machu Piccu in Peru and the Amazon rainforest bordering Brazil” (Location 9398 of 13125). In order to show the audience what Che experienced, the director used a lot of panning shots. Since the film covered a lot of ground following Ernesto and Alberto’s journey, the audience needed to be able to take it in quickly. The director also used a lot of reaction shots, and voice-overs.
In 2015 an American Values survey administered by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) revealed startling data concerning American 's view of Muslims. According to the survey, "A majority (56 percent) of Americans agree that the values of Islam are at odds with American values and way of life, while roughly four in ten (41 percent) disagree... In 2011, Americans were divided in their views of Islam (47 percent agreed, 48 percent disagreed)" (Jones). This survey demonstrates that in the last couple of years, Americans perception of Muslims has declined. Several factors could be contributing to this decline, including Islamophobic rhetoric and images found in American film and journalistic media. These negative images further
In this movie, different filmic techniques are used, however, in my opinion, they are not very effective and thus it fails to improve or contribute to the success of the movie, which I believe it should. The filming techniques used in
The British post-apocalyptic horror movie „28 Days Later“ formed a new zombie type. The plot portrays the survival in the post-apocalyptic society after the outbreak of a highly contagious virus. Even though the classic zombie type will never cease to exist, this movie broadened the term by making the zombies that are not dead.
The film Ever After, directed by Andy Tenant in 1998, is a renaissance era film depicting the “real” story of Cinderella. There are three notable characters with important leadership positions in the plot; these characters are King Francis, Prince Henry, and Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent. The king is displeased with his son and wants him to marry a princess from Spain for the alliance it will bring to the kingdom. Prince Henry is born into a leadership position as royalty but does not see the benefits of royalty and does not want to eventually be king. The Baroness plays the role of the “evil stepmother” and she abuses the power and leadership position that she holds.
The movie 300 directed by Zack Syndar starring Gerrald Butler as King Leonidas and Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo in an inspirational film around a historic story shown in excellent cinematography. While in many ways it is different in the movie to real life, it is still a historic fiction because it has added to the events to create a cohesive story. Within the first opening scenes, the brutality of the film begins. The feelings that rushed through my mind were that of pain and awe. The ways that the stories of Spartans last days are portrayed are incredible as if you were a ghost from the future reliving the pain that these courageous soldiers went through. Syndar’s goal was clearly to bring the suffering of the 300 men home to the viewer
