When reading the amazing poem a Poison Tree it show some good values in life. I really think it is about a friendship and they go through problems together. Have you ever had a friend that betrayed you? Betrayal is a bad thing, but it is possible to get it over it. A lot people do not really do not know how to handle it or what to do in that tough situation. Most people do not like confrontation or they avoid the problem. This why people do get mad, but they are sometimes scared to speak up because emotions and feeling towards others.
What really made me curious about this poem was it showed great emotions and you can feel it. There was a lot of anger in the story because he was being betrayed by his best friend. He was mad and question

I was very angry at first, but I was glad what I did.
There was many mixed emotions and the second one that I really saw the emotion was the sadness it the poem. You can feel the sadness because his best friend just betrayed him and you though he was always going to be there for you. When you 're hurt how do you sole it and get back up? “I watered it in the fears night and morning with my tears” (475). It showed that he was hurt and just sad because he lost someone and though they were a real friend. My personal experience was tough my best friend was very close to me and we chilled and did everything together, but when it came to baseball season changed, he just wants to follow others and to be honest that hurt. It was hard to get over it because it’s your best friend. It made me realize a lot because people change when they are with others. They rather hang out with fake people instead of real people.
In the poem what really made me smile was that they got over their problems and solved it and became friends again. It took a long period of time to get over it and they really just learned from it and solved it. It was very surmising because they really went through a lot of emotions through sadness and they were hurt inside. Have you ever forgiven someone that was your friend and try to start over? I think that his friend wanted to apologize and want to make things better. I was very glad that they resolved everything
The reason I chose this poem is mostly the discrepancy I have towards the message. I think that one should love wholeheartedly. Although there is the chance of ending up heartbroken, one would never know what love is truly like if he or she would not take the risk of fully loving another person. Just because William Butler Yeats had his heartbroken by a cruel woman does not mean that others will end up with the same fate. Yes, if one is “deaf and dumb and blind with love” in my opinion, he or she will end up heartbroken. However, if one is smart about giving their heart away and gives it to the right person then they have a good chance of ending up happy. Therefore, I believe that everyone should take the chance and love with all of their heart but do it carefully, and no matter what the outcome; they would still have the experience of loving unconditionally.
To start this poem off, it begins initially with explaining the mental state of the heart. “Heart weeps,” is a good way to show that the heart is past being extremely emotional but is instead at an even sadder stage. Weeping is a better word choice than “cries,” because it communicates that the heart is slowing down for the moment. Weeping is a softer, somehow sadder cry. When I picture someone weeping, I see someone huddled under their blankets crying quietly out of exhaustion of the overpowering emotions they have. Using “weeps,” shows the seriousness of the heartbreak the heart is going through. In the next line, “Head tries to help heart.” This shows the beginning of the personification in the poem. During a heartbreak often times we console either our head or our heart to make the right choice. It varies by situation, but normally you have to choose between listening to logic or emotions.
I think these key images all tie in together. All of these memories and past experiences say that he has previously been a very emotional person because of the things he has gone through. In the beginning I was feeling it was dark and mysterious, but as I continued to read it, it became clear of what he was trying to say and express parts of his life. These lines are what define the real meaning of the poem. These lines have real meanings and memories behind them and you can tell that just by simply reading it a few times, and thinking about the thoughts he had expressed in the poem.
Another reason I liked this poem was because i could relate to it. Though no one very close to me has passed, I have had very important people leave. I can identify the emotions described in the poem, and feel them myself when I think of the people who have left, like my mom. She left a while ago, but I
In the “Friendship Sonnet” by William Shakespeare he talks about the hardship he has with a friend and that a loss of that friend could hurt so much. In this poem he is saying that he has wasted a lot of time with a friend and he feels depressed about that. In the first quatrain he is talking about a man sweetly and silently reminiscing the experiences of the past. Also, he is experiencing fierce pain for the wasted time and is hurting a lot. In the second quatrain of the sonnet the pain is much more as he thinks about the people that will never be in his life ever again. This makes him cry because the pain he experiences is relived again. In the third quatrain the debt of pain is reopened and he must pay the entire amount again. In this poem he is basically crying about all the friends that he has lost and this saddens him. In the end of the poem it is saying that if I just think about you all my pain will end and I will be okay. This is the meaning of friendship because everything will be alright in your life if you just think about the good times you have had with your
Through “A Poison Tree,” William Blake shows that life is not easy and mistakes will be made, but if people do not move on, things will not get better. In this particular poem, the author uses personification to show their anger growing by giving it the characteristics of a plant. Blake uses personification in phrases such as “my wrath did grow. / And I watered it in fears” and “it grew both day and night. / Till it bore an apple bright” (4-5 and 9-10). This shows how this person becomes angrier over time, fueling their feelings with fear and sadness. The poem ends with the person using their anger to hurt someone else, only making things worse. This device expresses the theme because the person in the poem did not do what they should have done. What they should have done was let things get better on their own, instead they chose to let their feelings take over. In turn, they became bitter and thirsty for revenge. Another device Blake uses is imagery because it shows again how this person let their anger grow. Blake combines the use of personification and imagery in stanza two by saying,“And I watered it in fears, / Night & morning with my tears: / And I sunned it with smiles, / And with soft deceitful wiles” (5-8). By using these two literary devices, he creates an image of someone watering this plant with evil, while also having a Grinch-like smile on their face. One could even go more into detail and say that the nutrients in the soil are the evil ideas that the plant thrives off of to grow. This shows that people should not let their anger get the best of them, but instead should move on to better things.
The mood of the poem gives me the understanding that it may not be the happiest after stating what is going on. At the beginning of the piece not everything was understood. After continuing reading, I felt as though I comprehended
“This world is full of sob stories. This worls is full of things that if you thought about them too much would ruin you. It's full of people whose lives go wrong, through reasons that are out of their control sometimes or being in the wrong circumstances...being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is just like any other tragedy. When you were young you might not understand that as well but when your older and you've seen so much of this, then you kind of become numb to it... and really the only way to deal with kind of thing emotionally; is to just go about your life as you would normally. It's so hard to try and feel somthing every single time you learn of a tragedy because if you do you'll never stop being depressed.
The mood which covers the whole poem is really sad. It is the feeling when he feels desperate for being unable to cure his mother. Each word from his mom is liked a knife stabbing at him because cancer is known as incurable. “I was frozen/ It never crossed my mind that this angel would have a departure flight/ With tattoos on her passport from a son who took her existence for granted/ I bit my tongue and bled my regret into the cracks of my silence/ Something inside of me broke/ and whatever it was, I knew I deserved it.” Deep inside him, Stokes loves his mother a lot and it is really exploded as he gets the new.
It is a sad poem and somehow made me relate to it. When I've gone through depression, there were times I would imagine myself dying and I had thoughts and images in my head of scenes of my death. Although this could be an actual death scene or metaphorical,
Poisoned Apples stuffed down girls throats by society, advertisement, the clothes on mannequins selling sexuality, diet aids, beauty. Rebel against stereotypes, Stand up for feminism. Take a good long look in the mirror, mirror on the wall who’s the fairest queen of all.
The poem begins by the father first giving his son a very formal goodbye and explains the relationship between the two. Though it initially does not seem to be that deep, it later demonstrates the connection as he says “child of my right hand, and joy” showing the happiness the child brings his as well as how he is dependable or always right there. In the next line, he goes on to explain his sin which plays into the guilt aspect of this piece. He fears that his trouble was having too high of expectations for his first born, thus not giving the child enough faith that what he was doing was also acceptable. Perhaps the father is feeling that he did not give his child enough reassurance while he had the chance. The next line is key to the poem and tells us the age of his son when he died, telling us that he was seven year old, while the second part is saying that he is paying for his childs death.
In conclusion this poem is about a girl who comes home after being missing for three days, she was asked many questions but did not answer them. She was to scared to talk so she started to have nightmares about the event that she witnessed. Then the matchmaker said to her dad that a rich guy wanted to marry his daughter, he said yes. She asked her dad to invite the law to the ceremony. Then she told everyone about the nightmare she had been having ever since she got home. She then asked the man she was marrying where that ring in his pocket came from, he was handcuffed, taken away, judged, then
The meaning of the poem A Poison Tree is how hatred can be a powerful weapon that can lead to both physical and mental injuries if not controlled on time. In the first stanza of the poem the speaker gets angry with a friend and a foe. The speaker seizes their wrath with the friend, however, the speaker allowed their wrath to grow with their foe, “I was angry with my foe; / I told it not, my wrath did grow.” Throughout the second stanza, the speaker grows their wrath with mixed emotions, “And I water’d it in fears, / Night & morning with my tears: / And I sunned it with smiles, / And with soft deceitful wiles.” As the speaker kept growing their wrath, it blossomed to form new anger, new tricks and plans for destruction, “And it grew both day
“Like how a single word ,Can make a heart open ,I might only have one match ,But I can make an explosion , And all those things I didn't say ,Wrecking balls inside my brain , I will scream them loud tonight” The words that people have said made me change my mind about life, made me actually open up and experience new things in life. I only have one life to make choices and the only life that I have, I picked someone that will love me for the rest of the years I live. When things don't go my way I have a tendency to explode on the wrong person when I don't mean it. There are some things that I wish I would've said to my friend before he passed away but I never got to say those words. All my life I have always known to keep things in and not let anyone know how I feel. One day I screamed and let it all out.
