Bolor-Erdene Tseren WRI 1200 10/14/2012 The Amber Room Three hundred years ago, there was a great treasure, which was built by human hands. It is called the Amber Room. Art experts from Germany said it should be the 8th wonder of world due to its beauty. History, when recorded, is evidence that shows that the past actually happened. However, the Amber Room did not have the fate to stay in a physical form and became one of the interesting mysteries of the century. Many researchers are interested to discover the mystery of the Amber Room, however the mystery is still under the veil of mystery. It is because of “misplacing” due to World War II. The walls can cover a room that is 50 feet wide by 16 feet high. The Amber Room covered the 16 walls out of 20 walls of the Petersburg Winter Palace. Queen Zarin thought the Winter Palace was too spacious for the Amber Room and therefore relocated the Amber Room to the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace room was perfectly fit for the Amber Room because the Summer Palace Room was smaller in size and would make the Amber Room stand out and look even more amazing. Now the Summer Palace of Zar is also called The Catharine Palace in honor of Queen Catharine I. Later Catharine II chose the Amber Room as her favorite place. Therefore she gave the order to the architect, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and his team to do some additional pieces for the Amber Room. Bartolomoe was born in Italy, and he was the major architect of the Russian Winter Palace and Catherine Palace. Bartolomoe added 24 large mirrors that were placed between the 12 Amber panels. The Amber Room originally came with 3 doors. Above the 2 main doors, there was a wooden Supraportes, which is a decorative panel above the door and a horizontal format covered with gold. The White doors of the Amber Room were decorated with wood and gold. The Amber Room floor was covered with fine parquet materials that have an extraordinary painting.
