My original question was how long were they in the annex before getting caught. I then expanded that topic and came up with ten other questions related to that topic. My then questions were: What was living in the annex for two years like? What was staying in such a small place like the annex like? After living in the annex for two years, how were they caught? Why was Anne happy when they got caught? Who was it that caught them in the annex after two years? What does the annex look like? Why were the Van daan’s the first to the annex? How did Anne feel about being cooped up in the annex for two years? What incident makes Anne and her family go into hiding in the annex? Why did Mr. Frank let the Van Daans stay with him and his family in the annex? The first question I …show more content…
It has a lot of stairs and doors as well. The annex is hidden very well by doors and hallways as well as the moveable bookcase. It is located on the second floor and goes all the way up to the third. Once you enter behind the moveable bookcase there is a step stairway that leads to the Van Daans. On the right there is a door that leads to the W.C. On the left there is a door that leads to the Franks’ room. If you go up the stairs Peter’s room is to the left of the kitchen. His room is just a landing leading up to the attic but he doesn’t care. if you take the stairs in Peter’s room it leads up to an attic which is where the food is stored and Anne sometimes goes to write up there. The second question I researched was what is living in the annex for two years like. Anne hates hiding in the annex. She loves fresh air and nature helps her keep her joy. When the Green Police come to capture them she is kind of optimistic. The third question I researched is after living in the annex for two years, how were they caught. They were caught by the thief that broke in and heard Peter drop the light. He told the Green Police and they came to capture
Jewish people were being taken to concentration camps. Anne and her family were jews and had to go into hiding. They hid in a secret annex above her father’s office. The Frank family was later joined with four other people. With eight people in the annex it quickly became crowded. The residents of the annex had several people that risked their lives to help them. They were in hiding for two years, until they were found. After being found, what happened to the members of the annex?
On August 4, 1944, Anne Frank and the other seven inhabitants living in the annex were arrested by the German Gestapo. Their secret about living in the annex was exposed by an anonymous tip, that led to their arresting. The anonymous tip also led the Gestapo to arrest two office workers that were helping the members of the annex live. The two office workers were sent to Amersfoort Camp, which was located in the Netherlands. Fortunately, one of the office helpers was released after the arrest. The other helper escaped after 6 months of being confined in the camp. As for the members of the annex, they were all transported to Camp Westerbork, located in Northeastern Netherlands. The members of the annex arrived to the camp four days after the arresting, on August 8, 1944.
In the play “Anne Frank” they are located in Amsterdam July 6th 1942. They are in hiding in what is called the Annex during WWII. The people at the Annex are Anne Frank, Margot Frank, Mr.Frank and Mrs. Frank, Peter Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan, Mrs. Van Daan, and Mr Dussel, we know this because Mr. Frank gave Anne Frank a diary and she wrote in the diary a lot giving us this information. In times like this, you would need lots of Courage, Compassion, and Sacrifice to get through the tough times.
Anne Frank’s diary has changed how people have thought of world war 2 for many years. There are many differences in how the story is told through a play and a movie.the story takes place in a secret hide out called the annex. It is mainly about the 2 years that Anne, her family, the Van Daans, and Mr.Dussel.
In 1942 Nazis arrived all over Europe and started to kill Jews. Two Jew families went into hiding until this was over. The Franks and Van Daans went into hiding. These families were limited to things. There was tension and stress a lot, and there was some things to occupy their time. What was it really like for these families to live in the Secret Annex?
Otto owned a spice and canning buisness that was not far from there house. At Ottos office, it had a very interesting way it was built. When you would walk up the stairs to where the Secret Annexe (the place the Franks stayed) there would be a bookshelf covering a door that led to a staircase that led to where they were staying. If a random person were to have walked off the street and into the office, they would be very confused in the annexe and have trouble even getting to the door to the annexe. On the morning of the Franks moving into the Annexe Margot would have already been there becuase she had been recieving call up notices prior to there actual day they were moving in so she had already left with Meip (Meip was one of the guardians at the office). When Anne and her parents were going to the Annexe, they had to wear multiple layers of clothing and carry only one bags because they did not want to draw attention to themselves. The Franks were not going to stay in the Annexe alone. The other people hiding with them were Hermann Van Dan, Petronella Van Dan, and there son Peter Van Dan. Also hiding with them was Albert Dussel. While they were all in hiding they had guardians who were Mr. Franks workers at his office. The guardians were the people who brought them the supplies that they needed and they guarded the Annexe. After two years in the Annexe the members were arrested. It was August 4, 1944 when they were arrested. They thought that the reason
and Mrs. Frank sleep in the main area. Mr. Frank answers their questions, that “Please. I’ve thought this out for weeks. It’s the best arrangement. The only arrangement,” (Goodrich, PDF 707). Instead of making the Van Daans sleep in the main room, the Franks sacrifice their own living space for the other family. They are willing to give away their own comfort and personal needs for the Van Daans to have their own privacy. Meanwhile, later on, a woman, Miep, brings things for the group in the annex, while risking her life to do so. We hear this in one of Anne Frank’s diary entries. She writes that, “The people from whom Miep got our ration books have been arrested. So we have had to cut down on food supply,” (Goodrich, 497). Miep had been risking her life to get these ration books, illegally, for the family, and now has to find a way to get more food for the family while Mr. Kraler, another caretaker of the family, is in the hospital. Miep had befriended Anne and the family, and was willing to put everything on the line just for them. On more recent terms, a football coach of the recent Florida school shooting, was truly a hero and sacrificed his own life for the students of the school. In the
In the first 80 pages of Anne Frank, the Franks moved out of their home and are living in the “Secret Annexe”. The Van Daans moved in with them four days later. Four months after that, Albert Dussel moved in too. With everyone living in such a small space, they get into fights alot.
From what it looks like the secret annex looks a harsh place to stay at especially living with other families. You can’t take everything to the secret annex what is one important thing you would take to the annex and why? I would take a notebook and a pen. I would take a notebook and a pen to write everything that happened in the secret annex.
They were all Jews and had to hide so they wouldn’t get captured and sent off to concentration camps and die or get killed right then. They would be separated from their family. They wanted to stick together and get through these hard times together. During the first half of July, Anne and her family had to hide in an apartment at the top of Mr. Frank’s old business, which was also called the Secret Annex. They lived in this apartment for 2 years. There was 8 people living in this crowded apartment. Peter van Pels had a cat at one time also. Miep and Mr. Kraler lived outside of the Annex but brought them news, food, and supplies to help them
They soon started calling it the “Secret Annex”. Many more people joined them, and they lived in there for about 2 years. (“Anne Frank”).
Secondly, one of the main settings in the novel is the Secret Annex , and is not a place I consider visiting. This is because of the poor living conditions depicted in the book. The diary takes place in the Netherlands in 1942-1944. The Secret Annex is consists of small rooms behind the office of Mr.Frank (Anne’s father) and Mr. Van Daan’s (partner of Mr. Frank) . The secret annex is an empty section of Mr. Frank’s business. The front portion of the building is open for business while the back is concealed for hiding. Due to Nazi invasion, the annex is used as a hiding spot. Through the course of Anne’s diary , she only mentions eight people living in the annex. According to Anne, the Annex houses the Franks, the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel.
The secret annex was a hidden little room behind a bookshelf to hide The Franks and other families. It has everything a kitchen, rooms, and a attic. The Frank’s and the other family lived in the secret annex for 2 years until they were caught and taken to concentration camps. There was very little room so you had to be very picky about what you were going to take and leave at home. You first had to think about the other families would there be enough space if you took certain things. Are the things you're taking really necessary. I would bring books because first if there isn’t really nothing to do I could just sit down and read a book, second I wouldn’t forget to read or spell, and third they don’t really take much space.
The only thing she had to do was study and write in her diary. She never goes outside and always has to worry about if their ever going to be discovered and killed. The Frank Family wasn’t the only ones that went into hiding in the “Secret Annexe”, also the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel, making a total number of eight. Their survival in the “Secret Annexe” was dependent on their helpers who brought them food, news from the outside, and books.
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.
