With five albums, three mercury prize nominations and the fastest selling debut album in British history, the Arctic Monkeys smash back on to the scene with brand new album ‘AM’.

10/10 41 minutes and 57 seconds of near perfection and a lifetime of success ahead of them, the Arctic Monkeys reappear this week with ‘AM’.

It feels like only yesterday that the band released their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ which destroyed previous records selling 363,795 copies in the first week - provoking indie lovers to jump on the ‘I knew them first!’ bandwagon. This was 7 years ago and the group have only gone from strength to strength – gaining more and more support from typical Brits clinging on to the most successful British band in this genre since Muse who have not appeared since 2009. Their second studio album, ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’, was released subsequently in 2007. Similar to its predecessor, it made No.1 in the charts on the week of its release. ‘Humbug’ followed in 2009 under the scrutiny of American rock avant-garde Josh Homme - the domination of the Queens of the Stone Age lead singer led the band in a completely different direction - to abandon the soft indie influences for heavier, aphotic tones. Generally speaking, their third studio album was lapsed. Only selling 169,000 copies in the first month, it did not compare to the grandeur of the smash hit debut.
