The Argument of the Importance of Critical Thinking
Critical thinking skills are the best skills one can have. With critical thinking skills, one will be able to view and take up as many possibilities as they can. Everyone thinks, but not everyone thinks critically. It is our nature to think, but critical thinking is a skill that one develops over time. People believe that thinking is simple, but it can be distorted, twisted, unfair, ignorant, or downright prejudiced. The thinking that of what one may produce, make, or build depends on the quality of their thought. One may believe thinking is costly, both in money and in quality of life, as Julian Treasure, the speaker in the Ted Talk, “How to Speak So That People Want to Listen”, explains, “What I'd like to suggest, there are a number of habits that we need to move away from. I've assembled for your pleasure here seven deadly sins of speaking. I'm not pretending this is an exhaustive list, but these seven, I think, are pretty large habits that we can all fall into,” which create a habit that will turn the habit into continual thought.
Secondly, critical thinking helps develop problem solving skills and study skills. If a person is in a state of stress, the person will be more inclined to give into defense mechanisms against perceived threats. When one's brain is under stress, an individual’s mind begins to block any new information. This is because the mind will shut down the learning capacity, and thus goes into "survival
