Before finishing the novel, there have been some interesting events. Since we left off Jake Brigance was left with several problems such as the KKK, dealing with the Hailey case, and above all trying to keep his family safe. Reverend Isaiah Street ended up getting his lawyer rejected by Hailey because he figured he already crossed Jake once and was wrong. So the NAACP’s lawyer goes back to his life and forgets him. Another problem dealing with the with the reverend was that he supposedly was keeping the six-thousand dollars from the Hailey family because he possibly intended to keep it himself. So with Jakes help, the Hailey family confronted him and got the money. The KKK started to plan attacks as the trial was coming up. They attempted to
The great awakening was a devoted religious revival movement in the 1720s through the 1740s that was spread throughout the colonies by ministers. It inspired ordinary citizen to assert their right to independent judgment by allowing them to make their own decisions about their religion and personal lives. The great awakening sparked people to stand up for what they believed in; their religion. It inspired ordinary citizens to stand up against the authority so that they could basically have freedom of religion.
The main outcome of the Awakening was a resistance in contrast to spiritual law which leaked into different zones of colonial life. In spite of the fact that a religious development, the Awakening had ramifications in social and political circles also. Traditions of thoughtfulness and obligingness, the overseeing standards of life in the colonies, were put aside for a more difficult stage. The Great Awakening is generally partitioned into four times of American history. The initially happened while America was still a part of the English settlements. Such religious masterminds as Jonathan Edwards and George Whitfield urged a scholarly method to scripture. Amid this period, the houses of worship in the colonies were still particularly fixing
Sacrifices can define one’s character; the definition can either be the highest dignity or the lowest degradation of the value of one’s life. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin implicitly conveys the sacrifice Edna Pontellier makes in the life which provides insight of her character and attributions to her “awakening.” She sacrificed her past of a lively and youthful life and compressed it to a domestic and reserved lifestyle of housewife picturesque. However, she meets multiple acquaintances who help her express her dreams and true identity. Mrs. Pontellier’s sacrifice established her awakening to be defiant and drift away from the societal role of an obedient mother, as well as, highlighting the difference between society’s expectations of
Protagonist- Edna Pontellier is a married twenty-eight year old who is a graceful woman that during the course of the novel is constantly changing in discovery of who she is on the inside.
Malala Youfaszai represents the epitome of the fight for women’s rights as she took a stand against extreme violence in order for women to receive an equal amount of education as men did. She opened the pathway for herself and other women to have equal rights with men in a society where education for women was unacceptable. Just like Malala fights for the rights of women, Edna Pontellier exemplifies the definition of a true feminist in an unaccepting society. Throughout the novella, “The Awakening” by Kate Chopin, the protagonist Edna Pontellier, exhibits the aspects of a feminist during the Victorian Era by disobeying the responsibilities of a wife and mother, making her actions socially unacceptable. Similar to many feminists, Edna Pontellier chooses individuality over conformity by

There are many problems in the society we live in today, many of which revolves around children. In the United States alone there are over 900,000 children who suffer from child neglect(Child Neglect). Of course this would not happen if the mother was a house wife, who stays at home and takes care of the kids as well as doing day to day house work. Expect this does happen in the book, The Awakening, Edna Pontellier, the mother of two and a fairly handsome lady, is not particularly fond of her children.
One work I read in class that I enjoyed was "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin. It showed a real life situation and how someone can be in a marriage and not happy. It also showed bravery it takes a lot to leave your family and the ones you love and risk it for one person. It teaches other to find their own truth, inner self, and that everything does not go as planned. It showed how she has done all she can do now it is time for her to rest alone because she has nothing else to lose.
2:00 in the morning, David began getting worried. He knew he shouldn’t be. Maria knew exactly (they would not put a word)where to meet at the location we decided. They had just discussed it yesterday.
I think he it wasn’t a great decision not to listen to Aunty. He only listens to other people. It wasn’t even his idea to leave the house. Edmund’s sister convinced him to leave the house and get food. Edmund could have easily said no and Sis wouldn’t go missing. He should’ve listened to Aunty.
In their analytical papers on The Awakening by Kate Chopin, both Elaine Showalter and Elizabeth Le Blanc speak to the importance of homosocial relationship to Edna’s awakenings. They also share the viewpoint that Edna’s return to the sea in the final scene of the book represents Edna being one with her female lover and finding the fulfillment she has been seeking. We see evidence of this idea of the sea as a feminine from Showalter when she tells us that “As the female body is prone to wetness, blood, milk, tears and amniotic fluid, so in drowning the woman is immersed in feminine organic element. Drowning thus becomes the traditionally feminine literary death”. (Showalter 219) LeBlanc takes this idea even further. She tells us that “The
God works in glorious ways, and often in ways that the new believer does not anticipate. It is important to note that this does not happen to just pastors or teachers, but to every follower of Christ. In fact, to be used as an instrument of God should be a yearning, deep inside our hearts, that is thrilling and beyond compare to worldly desires.
In the vast whiteness of somewhere there was a dimly glowing blob of purple light that appeared to be sleeping. Light *Znnzz* could be heard throughout the vast somewhereness originating from this little ball of sleeping light.
Awakening, after getting very little sleep that night, I knew today was not going to go well. My mom had dreaded this day for weeks now. The thought of my sister leaving was destroying her. My dad and I didn’t think about it that much, because we knew she would be home to visit often.
