In comparison, the original has a more traditional sound, while the 1964 version is more harmonized, and formed in a musical way. It was renamed “The Bandit” in The Shadow’s rendition of Mulher Rendeira. It is widely believed that the English translation is originally written by Michael Carr and John Turner. Instead of using the original text, (Hey, Lacemaker woman), “I’m the quickest on the trigger, when I shoot I shoot to kill.” is used as the first phrase. Basically it was totally rewritten, and all the meanings were changed. In the original composition, it had a “puzzle” type of style, by taking the chorus, or any of the other parts of the song and putting it together.
